How Long Can You Watch?

#61

I usually stay at games until the end, but this past weekend we didn't even go (had other priorities).  I did watch into the 4th quarter until my wife asked if we could just switch to the Red Zone channel (she's a Patriots fan).  I'll watch and/or go to the games because I enjoy it (usually) win or lose.  These past few games though, getting blown out like some college team have been hard to watch.  If they had been competitive and kept the game close, I would have watched the whole game.  Losing doesn't bother me so much because this is the NFL, but losing in the fashion that this team has done the last few games does.

There are 10 kinds of people in this world.  Those who understand binary and those who don't.

When I don't watch it is because when I watch I think I am jinxing the whole team. Turns out, we are just bad.

I watch at least the 1st quarter. Not much sense watching after that IMO.

DVR is your friend.

fast forward through all the penalties (you know it's holding on the OL), watch the plays themselves without the delay between snaps and whistles, bypass all the commercials.

I will watch, if only for the purpose of seeing who is completely phoning it in at this stage of the season, whether any of the backups are progressing as their play time increases (because of course now they are starting due to all the injuries), and just in case someone makes an eye-catching play.

If I were to have to sit through 3-hours plus just to see the team get pantsed on a weekly basis, I'd be catatonic.

This past game I watched until halftime. When the Chargers got the ball with 1:10 remaining I thought to myself "they're gonna score again", and sure enough, they did. Then I turned it off and went to bed.

I only watched the first couple of possessions this week. Did not notice how empty the stadium was until later when my friend checked the score for me. 45-10. Yuck!

Each week I regain optimism for the next week but my expectations are tempered. Not full blown apathy but getting close.

Evidently I like punishment because I watch until the clock reads 00:00.

I watch the TV screen non-stop so I don't miss a second. Don't even blink.

ABOUT US
The Jungle Forums is the Jaguars' biggest fan message board. Talking about the Jags since 2006, the Jungle was the team-endorsed home of all things Jaguars.

Since 2017, the Jungle is now independent of the team but still run by the same crew. We are here to support and discuss all things Jaguars and all things Duval!
