I'd Like To See More Of........

#1

Some things I've noticed that seem to be working and I'd like to see more of:

1.) Quick Reads

We all know the line isn't holding the point long enough to make multiple reads, not that any of our QB's consistently make multiple reads, so I'd like to see more quick slants. Not necessarily the famous Bubble screens that never work but the quick slants across the middle giving the WR a chance to break off YAC. Can't over use it but I'd like to see more of them

2.) Less of Babin

Hear me out, Babin is a good DPR, I don't think he's a very good every down DE. I'd like to see him in the more exclusive pass rushing role, he seems to excel there. When he gets in his sprinter stance and pins his ears back so to speak.

3.) More of Todman

We can argue is MJD Done or is he not healthy yet, either way he's not effective right now. It's no secret he's not going to be here next year, I'd like to see more of Todman, can he step into the full time role or are we still looking for a RB next offseason?

These are the few things I've picked up on and been encouraged by in the first 3 games, hope to see more of it as the season progresses.

I'm also for kicking the tires on Stanzi, unless for some unknown reason Gabbert comes out and lights it up this week I'm all for Stanzi time.

And if he can't do anything and Blaine as well. Wouldn't hurt to then give Robinson a shot. Let them all audition if want true competition.

On a serious note more down field passing. In 3 games I think we've thrown the ball 25+ yards down the field maybe twice. Screens and 2 yard dump offs will only get you so much and the opposing defense rarely respects our deep ball. GIVE CS3 MORE 50/50 BALLS DOWN FIELD.

Problem is the line has to hold the block long enough for the route to develop, haven't seen anything suggesting we can yet

According to Lag henne had plenty of time and held on to the ball. Lag even say what is he waiting for 10 Mississippi.

That's funny I said the same thing in the gameday thread.

Lol. It is true though. Think lag is sick on henne to be honest.

Why do you people think Robinson can play QB. It just makes no sense at all.

This. Guy hasn't even gotten reps outside of wildcat. It's an asinine suggestion. I wouldn't mind seeing Stanzi or Scott though. Scott would be pretty awful too but I'd be more okay with him stinking it up than our top 10 pick or seasoned veteran doing so.

EricC85 has the Jags offense in a nutshell.  No pass protection for routes to develop and no run blocking either.  The skilled positions don't function without the offensive line making it possible.  Its why teams don't start eleven quarterbacks, running backs and receivers.  The big uglies have to do their job for the others to be ABLE to do theirs.

The coaches have kicked the tires on Stanzi already by watching film of his previous play in college and the pros, and watching him practice.

I don't mean to be glib or anything, but fans don't get to kick the tires on the players.  The coaches look at these guys and play the best ones they have.   Fans like to think there's a solution somewhere on the bench but the fact is, this team is pretty much set.  It was constructed in preseason  and  everyone has to live with it.

Every time a starter stinks it up out there, the fans say, take him out and play the backup.  Well, in all probability, the backup stinks even worse.   What do we have to lose by trying other players?   We can play worse than the week before, and that's not what the coaches are looking for.

So all this, "I'd like to see so and so play..." is just an empty exercise.   There's a better term for it, but I'd probably get a warning.
