TX Judge at Citizenship Ceremony: If You Don't Like Trump, 'Go to Another Country'

A federal judge in Texas advised a group of new United States citizens that if they don't like the election of Donald Trump, they are free to leave.

They're citizens now. All they have to do is vote him out next time.

I think it may have been more accurate for him to say that you shouldn't come over here if you don't like it here.

Other than that part the rest of what he said was 100%.

Did you guys even read the article? Other than that unfortunate line everything else he said is pretty spot on.

"I can assure you that whether you voted for him or you did not vote for him, if you are a citizen of the United States, he is your president," Federal Magistrate Judge John Primomo said at the citizenship ceremony in San Antonio. "He will be your president and if you do not like that, you need to go to another country."

Primomo, who said he didn't vote for President-elect Trump, later told a local TV station that he intended the message to be one of unification. He also criticized protesters who declare that Trump isn't their president and said he "detests" NFL players taking a knee during the national anthem.

<div>The ceremony was also marked by positive messages from those who had just become Americans.

"The essence of Americans is that you have the right to vote and choose who you want to represent you,” said a man who came to the U.S. legally from Mexico.
<----- I like what this new citizen said.

Yes I read it and the notion that if you don't like the president you need to leave is as unamerican of a concept as I can think of. Should I have left since I didn't like Obama as my president?

I agree with the judge on everything he said except when he said they should leave if they don't like the president. It would be more appropriate to tell them to participate in the process and work towards supporting a candidate they do like the next election cycle.

Judge Suspended for Telling New Americans to Accept Trump or Go to Another Country

In an update to this story, the only sources were the New York Daily News and a San Antonio newspaper, and these sources might be inaccurate.

"Aside from that unfortunate incident, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the show?"

That was a group of people who'd been subjected to intense examinations and tests over the course of several years to prove their "worth" to the US government. I would have applauded the judge for using the election as a teachable moment, telling them that Trump was going to be their President, like it or not, and if they wanted to see change, they should get involved in the process. "Love it or leave it," is the worst possible message to send.

Um, that's what I was saying. Other than the unfortunate remark of "Love it or leave" everything else he said was spot on.

Mehr, if you don't like it you're free to leave. Good message, especially for lefties who want nothing more than to morph this county into something it's not.

Collectivism, communism, socialism, democratic socialism. Whatever you want to call it this century.

Maybe that was his intent in that statement, that everyone here is free to leave.

There are countries where you are not free to leave. I can think of one just south of here that the Left holds up as a shining example.
