The announcing at the charleston game was hilarious. For every person at bat on timmys team, the scoreboard had a picture of tebow's crying face and just said "not tebow" instead guys who was at bat.

lol ..... personally, I think the lower A Mets ball club just came to the realization that everyone had already gotten pics with Timmy so they needed to shift him up to reach their Port St. Lucie fanbase.
Pump the brakes just a bit. This is more of a promotional move than anything else. The guy is hitting .222. The Mets GM had to do a real song and dance to try to explain what the intention was. At the end of the day, this is about selling tickets and bringing more attention to their minor league affiliate. He knows what they're using him for, and he's perfectly fine with that. He'll never see the inside of Citi Field as a player, but he provides some energy to the minor leagues.
