Should we make a run at Kirk Cousins?

#61

If romo gets hurt then you dont lose anything i dont understand what about this is a difficult concept. We dont have a quarterback already so losing him just means were right back where we started.

Unless you just wanna keep firing first round picks at quarterback until something works but thats no more a waste of time than romo

You lose your time, money, effort, and the ability to develop a viable option.

He brings nothing to the table for a young team with a development horizon that extends beyond he career.

You are bringing in a guy who is past his prime to a team that has yet to reach it's prime.

All you would be doing is forcing yourself to have to start the QB search and development process all over again when the rest of your roster is peaking.

This team needs to worry about a guy who can bring a high level of play over the period of years not some guy who has little if any future in this league.

He's a franchise QB who can still play at a high level. You'd be crazy not to bring him in if you got the chance. Although he most likely won't want to finish his career here.

Maybe we draft a good developmental guy like Mahomes in the 2nd round and Romo could be a guy that raises the Jags to competitive right away while also being a short term bridge to a dev QB?

You can lose your time just as easily with first round qb too. Unless hes a surefire hit from day one youre still going to lose games and wait for him to develop. And if he never develops then youve wasted this entire window of talent and then we'd really have to blow everything up.

Money isnt really a problem for us and its not like hes gonna ask for the farm anyway, at this point hes not playing for a check hes playing for a ring. We could easily stay within a healthy cap with his contract. And you dont lose the ability to develop a back up that can take over for romo, you can still have a qb sit behind him.

And our roster isnt as young and inexperienced as youre making it seem. What key players do we have that dont have enough playing experience that they would be lost in the playoffs? Most of the team is built off free agents that have already been in the league for quite awhile and the rest of our starters arent bushy tailed newbies like youre making them out to be. The allens, linder, telvin, cyp? all guys that have multiple years in the league and for the most part know what theyre doing. All that leaves is the last draft class and the next one but two of our first 3 draft picks that start already were top 5 talents and one of them has been performing like one since he stepped in the building. Jack and Yannick are the unknowns but every team has young players so i dont know why everyone else can manage but for some reason youre implying all of our players need to be 4 years deep in the league for us to have a chance at winning anything.

Romo isnt past his prime, that would imply hes worse than he used to be which just isnt true. Hes still the same player hes always been, which idk if you know this, but thats a really good quarterback. His health is the IF, an enormous IF that should rightfully make someone cautious about him, but its not much different than the concerns about peyton manning and that turned out alright.

This isnt that hard, you pay romo what you think he deserves, what you think is a fair amount of money to risk for the upside that he can offer. He can potentially offer two years of really great quarterback play alongside a *hopefully* better coached team of talented players. He can offer wins, WINS, you know those things we dont have, those things that help you get to the superbowl, those things our best player is literally in tears about on the sideline, WINS.

And if he doesnt? Well then we didnt really lose anything, since we dont have anything to lose in the first place.

We have a huge free agent haul coming up, basically all of our good players need to get locked down, but we havent given them a single thing that should motivate them to stay here.

These guys are literally wrecking their bodies every day to win, why in the world would they stay to be apart of this? We dont have time for another rookie qb to throw into the fire, we need to win now before we lose all the guys we drafted to other teams and were stuck doing this whole thing all over again.

Which of our FAs are up this year? Prince. Beachum we have an option for that isn't his decision. No one else of real importance comes to mind in the next 2 years.

Cyprien after this seasons over and Linder/Telvin/Arob/Colvin after 2017. outside of them we have 6 starters on our team that have been drafted lol, and one of them is Blake so that barely even counts.

They aren't bringing in a 37 year old often injured QB to play with a bunch of 25 year olds who won't hit their prime until after he is retired.

It's stupid. It ain't happening. Get over it.

Its not stupid for all the reasons previously listed but if you dont have a proper argument then go ahead and think what youd like.

Proper argument?

He will be 37 years old and coming off yet another injury.

He is not coming here. That's as proper of an argument as it gets.

I addressed both of those things, youre just repeating yourself now. Thats not an argument.

Believe Romo wants to go to Denver. Probably wants a shot at a ring.

Cousins will be re-signed or tagged

You didn't address anything. You just spouted a bunch of nonsense like saying a 37 year old  QB isn't past his prime.

It's a stupid idea that you are trying to support with more stupidity.

If hes past his prime, then what cant he do as a quarterback now that he could do in his prime? This isnt about health either, thats a seperate issue so dont bother with that. Im talking purely skill and play.

I addressed every point you brought up as a negative against romo. You just keep repeating his age to me over and over. Youre entire argument against is "Hes old and injured" two things i already argued against. Re-read my post up there^^^ sound out the big words and follow along with your finger if it helps and get back to me when you have something significant to say.
