What happened to the Trump/Russia talk?

Here's an opinion piece from that bastion of liberalism, National Review.

http://www.nationalreview.com/g-file/449...t-now-gone

"If you spent years — like I did, by the way — insisting that the Clintons were a corrupt affront to political decency, invoking their venal actions as a moral justification for Team Trump’s actions is the rhetorical equivalent of a remake of Waterworld set entirely in the main vat of a sewage-treatment plant, i.e., the intellectual Mother of Sh*t Shows. This is a point Ben Shapiro made well earlier this week (and which I’ve been writing about for two years now). If you want to make the case that Democrats or the media are hypocrites, whataboutism is perfectly valid (and quite fun). But if you want to say that it’s fine for Trump to do things you considered legally and morally outrageous when Hillary Clinton did them, you should either concede that you believe two wrongs make a right or you should apologize for being angry about what Clinton did. "

"Trump’s more-credible defenders certainly may be right that this is all the result of ineptitude and amateurishness. These guys are like a mix between Ron Jeremy and a yoga master in their ability to step on their own johnsons. But my wait-and-see approach was grounded in the fact that other than Trump’s public obsession with the Russia story — including his firing of James Comey — there was no concrete evidence that the Trump campaign had any dealings with the Russians. That benefit of the doubt is gone."

National Review has been in the #NeverTrump camp from the start.  They desperately backed any establishment candidate they could hoping to knock him off, going so far as to push the Evan McCullen campaign that got him on the ballot in exactly one state, and failed miserably.  Hardly the conservative publication it was before Bill Kristol took over as the editor and head honcho there.  They've been flailing away at Trump almost as much as CNN since the election.

It not only showed Donnie, Jr's naivete, it showed a willingness by the less naive to get dirt not matter what the source. Manafort, at the very least, should have known better.

It's interesting how Jr's story evolved. The orange didn't fall far from the tree.

They appear to be covering up something.  What it is, we still don't know.  But the way they bob and weave, lie and lie, and change their stories, they give off a strong odor of coverup.

One day the horrible realization that Obama is no longer POTUS, and Trump's actions must be judged on their own merits, will dawn upon Trumpettes.

As long as the mainstream media harps on trivial things while it ignored Obama's worse transgressions the Obama comparison will remain alive.

You do realize that everyone who's ever drawn the short straw (or taken their straw and eaten most of it) has whined about how the other guy had it so much better, right?

Trump's actions stand alone, just as Obama's, Bush's and Clinton's did. Using Obama as a crutch to justify Trump's actions just makes you look like an MSNBC crying head.

Trump's might, but the media's don't and we're done letting them just get away with it.

You can't seriously believe that the treatment of Obama by the mainstream media is at all comparable to the way they are treating Trump?

What a shock.  A political campaign trying to dig up dirt on an opponent.   That's a first.  We know Clinton didn't do that, right (cough...cough...Ukraine)?

I just love how people can just blindly believe there is absolutely no Russia connection because he keeps saying, "Believe me," despite the fact he is actively looking for ways to use executive privilege to pardon himself and his inner circle. I didn't realize fake news was something one needed to be pardoned for.

It's not as much about blindly believing as simply not giving a crap. It isn't important. The majority of people don't think it is important.

By the way, has a law been broken? Check back in when one has.

If there's no law you feel that was broken, why is his entire circle lawyering up? At some point you have to admit the shady man who lies compulsively has broken the law. Whether or not you are "cool with it" says more about you than anything else. Personally, I find it terrifying that so many are suddenly "cool" with Russia inserting themselves into our political process. Whether you want to call it collusion or treason, this is not going away.

It's not about feelings, it's about facts. No laws have been broken, and come on, seriously? He has no choice but to lawyer up.

This would be a moot point had Hillary won, right? Obama knew about possible Russia interference LONG before the election, right? See where this is going?
