Parnell just needs to be good
|
For this offensive line to work, he's got be have his best season ever. Bc our Guard spots are going to be super weak.
Losing Albert is a huge blow to our overall line improvement. Basically all we did was add Robinson. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Parnell, he's servicable. Demarco murray, tony romo, and the other cowboy linemen made him look good
Yeah he was essentially their worst lineman. And as a RT, he stinks. Probably bottom 10 in the league.
I find it slightly comical that folks want to pile on a Parnell who played through injury last season as if he's the fulcrum upon which the success of the O-Line hinges.
We have a rookie starting at LT and 4 or 5 question marks competing to start at guard, but Parnell is the problem? I don't see it. LG is the scary part. They need to find a capable man with experience to start next to the rookie LT who will undoubtedly make rookie mistakes. That's my concern. Parnell is probably third or fourth on my list of O-Line concerns. I think he'll be fine if he's healthy. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

Omameh was our 2nd best lineman last year before he got hurt and Bowanko was decent his rookie year and a better run blocker than pass blocker, which running the ball is what we want to do We show less advertisements to registered users. Why's it funny NYC? I think it's more scary. We paid him a lot of money for him to be below average.
If Albert doesn't retire, Parnell may have been benched. On another topic....this move could bite Caldwell in the butt. He could have paid Albert more money but instead our Oline has one upgrade in Robinson. I don't think a guy who started 42 college games and won a national title, is going to make the typical rookie mistakes. I think he'll be more polished. Parnell played just fine late last season as he got healthier. He was solid. He wasn't "below average." This isn't a myth. It happened. I went back and focused on Parnell in those games watching the all22 to see if Caldwell and Marrone were full of it or not when they talked about Parnell improving. They weren't. He looked solid. When he does get beat, it's more often by a pass rush, not on a running down. The Jags will indeed be running more in 2017 and he could actually be an asset - not a weakness - in these instances. I don't see Parnell as the weak link in this O-Line. The question marks at guard worry me more. Cam will make some rookie mistakes and get abused in a few games by savvy veteran pass rushers. It would be amazing if that didn't happen. But it will. He's a great LT prospect, but he's a rookie going against vets that are better than what he saw in college. That will show at times.
Next year's draft: Round 1: QB (hope I'm wrong), then OL, OL, OL, OL, OL, how many picks do we have?

It is as if Caldwell sees something completely different than we all do. From what we know he didn't heavily pursue any OL in FA, which I am ok with just as long as some emphasis is put forward in the draft to OL. They didn't and Caldwell is on the record numerous times saying if the Jags had to line up tomorrow he is completely satisfied with the O line the way it is. Mindblowing to me to be honest. The move Caldwell made, to not negotiate with Albert will backfire on him. This was a questionable call to let Albert walk.
Our oline is gonna be so below average. (08-01-2017, 12:00 PM)JagFanatic24 Wrote: The move Caldwell made, to not negotiate with Albert will backfire on him. Caldwell would have been a fool to negotiate to give him more money. (07-31-2017, 05:22 PM)JagFanatic24 Wrote: For this offensive line to work, he's got be have his best season ever. This opens up an opportunity for these young guys like Bowanko, Robinson and Omehmeh and a jar on the shelf like Tennessee has a real shot at the team. The team does not have to force someone who was out of shape and disinterested in high-level competition into games. How embarrassing would it be to go into Houston with Albert falling over with his feet stuck in cement It's not a blow because he was never there in the first place. Robinson has more upside than Beachum and Joeckel did.

Ugh tired of talking about o-line. It's going to be bad. That's all we know.
