2016 Week 15 at Houston

#1

I'm re-watching this game because I wanted to scout the Texans and Tom Savage.  Also because it was a spectacular game by Jalen Ramsey.  And of course, it was Gus Bradley's final game.

One thing that stood out was how bad the officiating was.  2 clear PI infractions were not called in the first half.  The stupid announcers called them "bang-bang" plays, but the Texans were clearly there early.  There was a terrible unsportsmanlike penalty on Lee during his KO return TD.  Arrelius Benn pointed at Lee as Lee crossed the goal line and Lee pointed back to Benn, who had held his block all the way down the field.  The referees said Lee taunted the other team.  Then Ivory was on the ground after a run and there were 2 Texans laying on him and they wouldn't let him up, so Ivory swung an arm at one of them and got flagged 15 yards, killing the drive.

Clowney was a beast in the first half and they started running designed rollouts away from Clowney's side.  The Jags won't be able to do that if Watt is on the other side.  The Jags also had a patchwork OL after losing Poutasi and Josh Wells in the first half.

The 2nd half was a collection of Just Jaguars Things.  Penalties on almost every special teams play.  Uncatchable passes by Bortles and untimely drops by the receivers.  The Texans got a PI call whenever they needed one on their TD drive, but no PI on the final drive with the Jags trailing by 1 and Boye draped all over ARob.  Gave the ball up on downs but got it back with over a minute left and on the first play Bortles floated an INT down the middle of the field with ARob double covered - game over.

We gotta have more offense in 2017.  The D will be good but Marrone won't sit on a lead like Gus always did.

My favorite game of the season, the day that for all intents and purposes ended Osweiler's time in Houston... and then Savage suffered a weird concussion a few weeks later. Ramsey was a beast in that game though, I do remember that.. even in Tom's comeback vid, you can see #20 everywhere breaking up passes.

Just in that video alone he almost picked off the first big pass to Wendell Williams and broke up atleast 3 TD passes. (Not to mention a LOT of other good plays) He did a damn good job on DeAndre Hopkins. If he stays healthy he's going to be a special player.
