This is why Michael Bennett will sit all year

#1

OK, so Michael Bennett had already planned to sit during the national anthem every week. But now we can see a legitimate reason to support him doing it: the issue Colin Kaepernick started protesting for (police brutality against racial minorities) is now part of Bennett's life. I will be upset if people learn about this and still get mad at him for sitting during the Star Spangled Banner. If there is anyone who should do the pregame protest this season, it's Michael Bennett.

Yes, Bennett abandoning loyalty to a country that lets him earn millions of dollars chasing someone because of a few bad cops makes perfect sense.

Yes, because when the police tell EVERYONE to "get down" as the look for someone shooting a gun, it's smart to run and hide behind a slot machine and play the innocent card. When you run from the police as they search for someone that supposedly has a gun, then you asking for them to treat you like you have a gun. This doesn't change anything. He was an idiot before, and he's an idiot after. Everyone except Bennett listened just fine and didn't get handcuffed. There's a reason he waited two weeks to make accusations.

I think everyone gets too heated up about this stuff. If they guy wants to sit down during the national anthem, I don't care. I refuse to engage in the constant emotional overreactions about this stuff. The more we argue about trivial stuff like this, the more the country becomes polarized.

"I felt helpless as I lay there on the ground handcuffed facing the real-life threat of being killed," Bennett wrote. "All I could think of was 'I'm going to die for no other reason than I am black and my skin color is somehow a threat.' My life flashed before my eyes as I thought of my girls. Would I ever play with them again? Or watch them have kids? Or be able to kiss my wife again and tell her I love her? I kept asking the officers 'What did I do?'

This needs a violin soundtrack.

Pete Carroll says: "What happened with Michael is a classic illustration of the reality of inequalities that are demonstrated daily," Carroll said. "May this incident inspire all of us to respond with compassion when inequalities are brought to light and allow us to have the courage to stand for change. We can do better than this."

I guess what ol' Pete is trying to say is that white people routinely flee from the police with no threat of pursuit.

Pete Carroll is saying he knows what Colin Kaepernick started sitting and kneeling for is real because it happened to one of his own players.

But it didn't happen to his own player. Bennett got exactly what he deserved.

Why did Michael Bennett deserve a death threat with a gun pointed to his head?

What on Earth does that mean?

I am not trying to start an argument. I just want to know why you think Michael Bennett deserved to be treated like crap by the police.

Why did Michael Bennett deserve a death threat with a gun pointed to his head?

Because he was a man of threatening size who acted suspiciously during a public shooting. Innocent people in a crisis don't run FROM the police, and doing so made hime suspicious. They detained him for 10 minutes and let him go. Just another tempest in a teapot.

Maybe Bennett could clean up his homeless man beard for starters.

Michael Bennett is a liar. New video shows cops running past many black people. So how can Bennett be singled out cause he's black. He's your typical race baiter. Just like Josina Anderson.

Why did Michael Bennett deserve a death threat with a gun pointed to his head?

The man is like 6'4" 270 and fleeing a crime scene after first contact. In any case, by his own admission, the gun was not "pointed to his head." It was in the hand of one of the officers while they were cuffing him. According to Bennett, it was near his head. If you watch the video the officers tactical light was the only thing near his head and that officer was 10 foot away. The actual arresting/detaining officer would have been in the line of fire had the weapon been pointing at Bennett's head. It cracks me up when people assume cops are going to go into chaos and detain with pleasantries like, please, thank you, are the cuffs comfortable, can I put a soft pad on the ground for you, etc.

His long letter was crap and seeking attention becasue of his status and his political motives.

I also wanna know if Bennett has anyone to corroborate his story?
Like did anyone else hear the police say the mean things that hurt his feelings?
Or did he just so happen to be alone?
Also... he is assuming he was approached and detained or whatever because he's a black man.... THAT is part of the problem too. You assume racism before anything even points to that being true. Was he the lone black man in a sea of white people and was picked out of a crowd?

I'm so tired of these entitled minorities playing victim all the time. Cops have a job to do... and I kinda wish they all would go on strike to show everyone how much they are needed. They deal with so much BS and everyone wants to spew this nonsense.

Sit your dumb [BLEEP] down during the anthem if you want you frickin loser. I hope it changes nothing.

Love the outrage from other african american athletes about this fake news. Another reason to raise your children not to look to athletes as role models. Charles Barkley had it right the whole time.

Sure, but then there's the outrage about the outrage.   I mean the white people who are constantly outraged by the black people's outrage.

Not sure I would call it outrage. More annoyance that athletes who have influence over young fans have a stage to spread their ignorance.
