Much like any other single stat, it should be looked at in conjunction with other stats and most importantly your eyes before forming any real conclusions. Also, any stat that doesn't reveal the forumla for its calculation should be highly scrutinized and probably tossed out of any meaningful discussion.

Lastly, this isn't baseball where stats are more pure. 11 guys on offense doing what they were coached to do contribute to each pass completed or successful run yet one or two guys get credit for the stat in each case. Too many people come running to this board with stats that they haven't analyzed to try to draw conclusions that contradict what their eyes should have told them had they watched and actually paid attention.

If only you could ignore everything but turnovers and tell the whole story though. Mariota had more than twice as many yards, much better comp %, good YPA, and he had 2 TDs. Bortles had an anemic 5.1 YPA, bad comp %, and 1 TD. Not to mention Mariota faced an elite defense and Bortles faced I think statistically the worst secondary (I don't think that's factored in to QBR though).

They were completely different, but equal QBR is defensible to me.

How come you don't factor in the weather and our depleted oline and WR corps?  Mariota is trash

I don't rate QBR but it's basically just expected points added with tweaks. 

Any good QB metric absolutely should have rush yards and stats tacked on though.

But he lost and got destroyed in the process. The biggest weighting factor of QBR is apparently the "clutch" factor. Blake wasn't amazing, but then again the weather was terrible. 

Traditional rating, yet again, shows a more accurate picture this week:

Mariota: 66.8
Bortles: 81.8

For what it's worth, they did get Kizer about right with a 3.4 lol
