I suspect the tribal leaders are the ones who benefit from the status quo and are opposed to it. BTW, the Dakota pipeline was not routed through Indian land. The accusation was that it was routed through an old Indian burial ground on non-reservation land. Since there was already an existing pipeline there, that ship had sailed for everyone but the environmental activists opposed to every pipeline. They were just using American Indians in this case. "Why should I give information to you when all you want to do is find something wrong with it?" |
