Where is the Play Action?

#1

What's the point of having this amazing run game that's carrying this offense with out at least trying some play action. Bortles seems more comfortable throwing on the move and could always just scramble out of harms way. It should also allow for our running backs to get some hesitation out of the linebackers to help their day out some. We could literally leave everyone in protection like we do on most of our pass plays anyways. I just don't see the downside.

There is a downside to every kind of play.

When the other team had figured out that you can't throw the ball, they will sell out to stop your ability to run.

Sound coaching strategy.

Considering out running attack, we definitely don't use it as much as I'd expect us to.

The WRs are just dropping passes, which is 100% their fault. Speed is not their biggest problem.

Even with ARob out I get the feeling that the wide receivers (notably Keelan Cole) are not playing as well as the coaching staff thought they would. Play action would maybe be better if they were. We can use some circus catchers right now.

Two things:

(1) We have been running it, but the receivers haven't been open.

(2) Blake is pretty bad/lazy at selling playaction. I'm surprised that it isn't something that has been brought up before.

Have you ever noticed that half the time, even on non PA plays, he pretends to hand the ball off to a side that doesn't even have anyone on it? Like Fournette will be on his left and he'll stick the ball like 3 feet to the right to no one then pull it in and go to his throwing stance lol

Hackett probably doesn't bother with PA because even if 9 guys bite on it Bortles still can't throw downfield.

What do you mean by "selling" play action?

He means making the defense think he handed it off to the running back, when in actuality, he kept the ball.  Boomer Esiasion was the best I ever saw at selling the play action.
