Three shutouts this week

#1

There were three shutouts in the NFL this week.

Obviously our Jags: 27-0 over Indy

Rams 33-0 over Arizona

Chargers 21-0 over Denver.

I have no idea how to efficiently look that up at all, but I have to think there's some sort of record there.

All 3 have serious QB issues, this isn't really that surprising.

Admittedly I haven't followed Denver closely this season. Siemien not doing as well as the start of the year?

Still, a shutout is relatively rare. Usually they at least get some garbage time points. Even Indy could have gone for a FG to at least prevent the goose egg.

I'll go a step further - all 3 losing teams have RB issues in some form or fashion. Cards don't have David Johnson (AKA one of the best RBs in football), Denver doesn't have a GOOD starting RB, Indy's RB is too old and isn't what he used to be....

Vance Joseph was right when he defended Trevor Siemien. Last week I saw Emmanuel Sanders ride a cart to the locker room after being helped off. Denver also lost two RTs against the Giants. None of those players had a chance of playing at Los Angeles and depth is a chronic issue on Denver's offensive line. I never thought the Broncos could ever get shut out.

The Colts had three chances to avoid a shutout. I heard Tom McCarthy say Chuck Pagano was trying to do it when he went for it on fourth down in FG range.

Information  (This post was last modified: 10-24-2017, 06:49 PM by JaguarsWoman.)

I Googled "most nfl shutouts in one week." I laughed at one article that states three shutouts in one day equals the number of zeroes that were seen all of last season.

This should answer the question:

Quote:The last time there was a trio of shutouts in a single week of the season was in December 2012. The last time four teams were blanked simultaneously? Need to go all the back to November 1983.

It took me about 45 seconds to find this --- 1983 Week 12 had 4 shutouts

I googled "most shutouts during 1 nfl week"

It took me much longer than 45 seconds to find "November 1983."

To be honest, I didn't even bother to look. I figured it would take a little more searching for that lol

Fun fact, all of the shutouts last week were in divisional games.

I did not think about that.

That never occurred to me and is an interesting fact.
