Caldwell's comments were somewhat telling that he's only going to go so high.

I figure ARob is a top-five WR in this league and will want just compensation. When I learned that Nuk Hopkins is already on a deal averaging $16.2 mil, I starting thinking that AROb might be looking for a 4-year, $65 mil deal that would average $16.25 mil. Well, Caldwell is clearly saying he feels the $16 mil franchise value is too much for ARob for one season which suggests to me he's nowhere near thinking this much.

Before looking at recent huge WR contracts I had been thinking he'd sign for 4-years, $50 mil which is a far more reasonable $12.5 mil per, but I just keep thinking he's shopping himself if that's all we offer.  An offer of 4-years, $55 mil makes sense to me as that's $13.75 mil and roughly equals the projected number for the transition tag suggesting he's a top 10 WR, however, we just talked about other recent deals where top WRs signed for 4-years, $58 mi and 4-years, $60 mil, and he could make a good argument that he's just as good as those players.

Hearing Caldwell suggests that $16 mil per is way too much for ARob tells me that he doesn't view ARob as being quite as elite as  I tend to think he is.  It looks like the Colts are going all out for ARob if we pass wherein we might as well expect for Luck to end up throwing to TY and ARob this season.
