Jags Re-sign Marqise Lee

Why do people have to keep interjecting Norwell into this equation? We paid him and still managed to give equal or slightly more money to three players who are far worse than Arob and Colvin. We can isolate Norwell from the rest of those deals easily. We could have Norwell, Arob, and Colvin right now...and a better team.

Colvin wanted a chance to play on the outside, otherwise he would be here right now.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

Gene Smith knows more than the people on this message board so don't question him taking a punter in the third round.

Gotcha, we're going to compare Gene Smith to Coughlin and Caldwell.  Awesome.
Gotcha. People on the message board can't have opinions. Awesome.

Great comeback to the Gene Smith statement.

Does seem that ? off on some of these reports. Remember, agents are giving the national guys information - language can be tricky- but throwing bigger numbers out there while frenzy is happening - well it wouldn’t surprise me. Heard Lee deal is less than reported so who knows.

Indeed. A true 2 year deal basically. Not that I was looking forward to this move but I can live with that. He always gives full effort, now let's just stop with those drops at the worst possible moment.

Essentially is just a 2 year deal for 16.5 million. I don't rate him that much but that's a good deal all things considered. Just run crossers with him and he'll fine.

Most don't had a problem with the deal Lee got. Lee deserves that value for sure. Most of us just don't really think the Jags necessarily needed to sign him because we thought they'd try to not go spend crazy.

Not by itself no, but when combined with the Moncrief deal to be more money than Arob got even w/ the franchise tag it loses a lot of its luster.

The NFL FA market for WRs seems higher than what most anticipated.  To the point that it probably was a factor in the Lions using an Original Round ( 6 ) RFA Tender on WR T.J. Jones at a little over $ 1.9 million.  The original plan was not to use the RFA Tender on Jones,  who projects as the team's # 4 WR again.  If the Jaguars wouldn't have given Marqise Lee the contract that they did, another team would very likely have or would have come close.

Message board 'experts'.

Excuse me if I accept actual football people making the moves instead of some opinionated stat regurgitaters.

Seemed like they knew what they were doing last year, now all of a sudden they don't.
Yea I mean... Why have an opinion when Gene Smith knows way more than anyone on this message board?

The same message board that was lauding him and proclaiming "In Gene we trust" for most of his tenure.

I cringe and laugh at those memories.

Takeaway from Caldwell today - Lee was always their target to bring back, it was just a question of who else they would have to pair with him. They consider him their #1.

Believe he was more so saying Lee was always coming back but they tried keep Arob and someone like Sammy Watkins until the price went too high. He'd have been the #2 to both of them.
