1st Round Pick: Happy, Meh, or Mad

#1
(This post was last modified: 04-25-2018, 11:25 AM by BlueEyedJag.)

With the Jags picking so late this year I wanted to see if people could name roughly 20 picks of players that could be there at 29 and how you feel about the picks.

This assumes Mayfield, Darnold, Chubb, Barkley, Nelson, James, Rosen, Allen are all off the board.

Ecstatic:
Marcus Davenport - DE
Minkah Fitzpatrick - S
Tremaine Edmunds - OLB

Happy:
Vita Vea - DT
Mike McGlinchey - OT
Daron Payne - DT
Isaiah Wynn - OG
Will Hernandez - OG
Billy Price - OC/OG
Frank Ragnow - OC/OG
Dallas Goedert - TE
Rashaan Evans - LB
Mason Rudolph - QB
Lamar Jackson - QB
Leighton Vander Esch - LB
Maurice Hurst - DT

Meh:
Taven Bryan - DL
James Daniels - OC
Hayden Hurst - TE
Harold Landry - DE
Jaire Alexander - CB
Kolton Miller - OT
Denzel Ward - CB

Mad:

Roquan Smith - OLB - We already have him in Telvin Smith and I don't think Roquan can hold up as a SLB
Calvin Ridley - WR -  I just feel we have more pressing needs than what any 1st round WR brings.
DJ Moore - WR
Courtland Sutton - WR

Ecstatic:
Fitzpatrick
Goedert
James
Hernandez
Happy:
Wynn
Ragnow
Vea
Vander Esch
Meh:
Rudolph (because I think Blake is going to turn the corner and elevate his game this year)
Jackson (because I think Blake is going to turn the corner and elevate his game this year)
Any CB
Any WR
Mad:
Anyone who is a reach or that has a low second round grade
If they trade the pick and miss on someone who would have been more of an upgrade then the guy they traded back to get

Ok...

Happy

Goedert
Hurst
Gesicki
Sutton
Hernandez
McGlinchey
Wynn
Ragnow

Meh
Jackson
Rudolph
(It’s always fun to get a new QB, but not convinced either will be the improvement we need)

Mad
Not sure I’d be “mad” with any player we select this low in round one, but a receiver with a similar skill-set to the ones we already have would seem to be a waste.

Same goes for a slot CB.

And if we’re going to draft a TE it has to be one who can improve our passing game.

I would add Wynn and that could be pretty much my happy list as well (excluding QB's and players who are projected in the top 10-15)

Went with guys I think could make it to our pick but yeah I'd love Wynn too.

I honestly think Hayden Hurst and Ridley or Kirk are the only guys that have ever been mocked to us that I would hate.

I'd be pretty happy with any of the oline, Goedert/Gesecki, and Moore/Sutton.

Well....you can't call this a need pick.

I think we just drafted Malik Jackson's successor.

It’s not a need pick.

It’s not best available player.

It’s a rotational player at best.

Meh.

I don't think we really got better with this pick. But it wasn't a reach at least. Dave really loves his Florida players.
