What position does Lamar Atkins play?

Jaguars.com says FB... Spotrac says WR... nfl.com says RB... Google's preview says LB.

I am Lamar Atkins, and can confirm that I play ALL positions.

Whatever position he can fit. Such is the life of going undrafted.

If he really is that versatile he certainly increases his chances of making the squad.

FB/RB

I believe WR was his high school position. Google be googlin'. Probably an AI script gone awry.

He's a ST kick coverage guy that moonlights at FB. Well, that's what he was in college anyway.

He was a LB in high school at Norland in Miami where his team won the 5A state championship in 2011.

It would appear he's been away from football for a few years as 2015 was his senior year of college and I can find no record of him on a previous NFL or CFL roster since then.

This has "Joe D. special" written all over it.

At Louisville, he was a FB that excelled at special teams. He does not have the speed to go to WR or RB. For the Jags, they have him listed at FB now, with his only chance to be a ST demon.

I might be wrong, but if my memory serves me correctly here, the Jaguars initially listed him at WR and then moved him to FB more recently.

I'm kind of reminded of Montell Owens who was listed at FB but never really played and was kept strictly as their top ST player.

Owens got his share of snaps at FB and RB in 2011 and 2012 due to injury ahead of him on the depth chart.
Outside of that - he was primarily a ST guy.

Owens is indeed a good comp for Atkins though (as you are suggesting.)  ST is his most likely role - with FB being a depth position for him if he makes the roster.
