Some interesting programming today on NFL Network, especially from a Jaguars perspective.

The 2017 Highlights specials for the various AFC South teams begins this evening at 5.

5:00 pm Houston Texans
5:30 pm Indianapolis Colts
6:00 pm tennessee tacks
6:30 pm The 2017 AFCS Champion Jacksonville Jaguars!!!

Then, after NFL Total Access at 7, NFL Network will rebroadcast the AFC Divisional Playoff Game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Pittsburgh Steelers at 8 pm.

Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!

I've been waiting for the Steelers game to be re-broadcast since they first aired the rerun a few months ago. Kept looking at the guide on TV, and going weeks in the future to see when it would be on. Alas, it is here and the DVR is set to record. I wanted to watch it again and see our offense go to work, and hopefully see a glimpse of what our offense can look like this year. Been jones'n to see some Jaguars football. 2018 season needs to get here fast.

Football season is the only time I wish I had cable or Directv. Specifically NFL Sunday ticket but I'd take NFLN right now. We did get an antenna so I can watch whoever shows up on ABC and CBS. Sadly we live too far from the local Fox and NBC affiliates.

My wife goes to school online. So not only do we get the student discount, I get to bypass the "Directv is available in your area" issue.

So I get Sunday Ticket for like $75 a season and online access through any device. Such a great loophole, especially for someone who lives out of the viewing area.

I still have it on the DVR, and what sticks out to me about it was just how many mental lapses there were that allowed the Steelers to keep the game at all close, and really it was something we saw way too much of late in the year. Remember them letting the Seahawks get two freebie busted coverage touchdowns in the second half?

I don't know if it was because of Marrone or in spite of him, but if he's a upper tier coach then he needs to get our guys to cut that [BLEEP] out this year.

I had forgotten how thoroughly the Jags beat Pittsburgh. I am guessing I am still salty about the AFC Championship Farce. Had it not been for some amazing throws and catches the score should not have even been close.

I had forgotten just how dominant our Jags were for the first 20 minutes of game time as well. It was completely one sided in all areas and it wasn't even close. The whole game had the feel that we were one step ahead and we were, but those first 20 minutes were a pure beat down. 4 of the Steelers' TDs came from incredible throws/catches.

I also forgot just how smooth that Myles Jack INT was. What a play he made and the toe tap to stay in bounds was beautiful. If he continues to play and grow like he did in the last 1/3 of the season/playoffs, we should be in for a show this season.

Two of Pittsburgh's scores came on desperation 4th and long heaves, one of which came only due to the field position they gained after Telvin Smith's taunting penalty.

Then their last TD came with all of three seconds left in the game.

Steelers fans delude themselves if they think that game was at all close.

I was planning to watch the show but still managed to miss it. Now I find myself hoping they'll re-air it, but it looks like they won't, or that someone will upload the show to Youtube, but it doesn't look that's happening.

NFL and Directv need to stop being butt buddies so the NFL can just offer it as a paid service. And I don't mean Gamepass because you can't watch games until the next day. If they would just make it a streaming app on my Roku and I pay for a season I'd be all over that.

You have the truth of it right there. How many more subscribers is the NFL missing out on due to this alliance?

While we are on the subject, why the heck won't Xfinity validate my subscription to NFL Network so I can stream it at work? Too bad they won't miss me when I am gone.

Watched the Jags 2017 highlights, and the Squealers game.... and yeah... I even watched the replay of the AFCCG....

It was tough... but gave me a renewed belief we'll be really good this year.
Hard to say, oh we were there so we'll get back... but we were there and probably could (should) be better this year.

Maybe we can get home field more this year.

Market research would tell you they aren't missing out on any additional funds. Other networks have the red zone channel available. Full disclosure, I work for ATT and I can tell you I don't like the deal because of the cost. ATT is funding the exclusivity. Can you imagine how much they would charge you for the NFL Network if you could ala cart add Sunday Ticket?

They will probably change the model with the next negotiation. Maybe Netflix will over bid for it.

I would certainly buy Sunday Ticket if it were available.
I will never have contracted satellite as my choice for TV...

I imagine with a lot more people "cord cutting" we could see a change eventually.
NFL should take the WWE approach. Subscription streaming service with access to NFLN, Sunday Ticket, and old footage and NFL films. Anyone with a smart TV or Roku stick or whatever could have access to it... And for a yearly price of x, or a monthy price of y they'd make way more money than the current model, imo.

That is the million dollar question. It's $300 or so now but you can only get it through Direct TV. Seems to me the cost would go down if every carrier could offer it but what do I know.

My phones service is from ATT. I'll be switching internet to them when I get back in town.

We will definitely see what happens next time around. Cord cutting is having a huge impact on traditional services. I could see a more open approach with the game model. The Rewind package is fabulous if you can wait 24 hours it just doesn't help out with game day.

Red Zone channel is amazing. I have access to the full Sunday Ticket and I end up on Red Zone when the Jaguars aren't playing. I like Andrew Siciliano overall.

But if you lower your fee to $199 and double your customers.... (I actually think for a low enough $ a year they would likely triple or quadruple customers including foreign markets)
