Will the Jags have enough cap space to resign Ramsey, Jack and Ngakoue??

#1

Those guys, drafted 1-2-3 might be the best 1-2-3 trio ever drafted by this team. And they are the heart of our defense. A lot of our long term success depends on keeping them right here in Jacksonville.

I think we'll probably have to pass on Fowler this year. And we might have to let Malik Jackson go. Will that be enough?

They'll make it work. We have until the start of the 2020 league year before Ngakoue and Jack hit FA and then the 5th year option on Jalen. So much cap room is going to be freed up by that time through aging players and cap increases. I'm not worried about it at all.

We'll get it done, Caldwell and his team are pretty good at this.

Agreed on everything, except I doubt Jalen would play under the option if he keeps playing like this.

I'm not gonna worry about 2020. I'm just focused on this season and praying everyone stays healthy.

He doesn't really get a choice though

If they plan on re-signing all three then they will make space to do so. But I expect Campbell, Jackson and Dareus to be let go in order to make space, Church or Gipson might also be gone depending on how our younger safeties progress.

Simple answer is yes.

There is always a way. This most recent draft has set the team up to get rid of aging/overpaid vets when the time comes.

But let’s get thru this season first and win this championship!

They'll find a way...but enjoy the current season.

Won't be too difficult if they keep drafting like they are.

Older guys get replaced by rookies and second year players.

- Harrison could replace Church and free up 6.2 mil
- They added to the D-Line rotation with Bryan this year, if they can draft a run stuffer NT type next year then Dareus could potentially walk freeing up 10.6 mil
- They have an out clause in Marqise Lee's contract in 2020 that will clear another 5.2 mil
- Campbell will be getting pretty long in the tooth by 2020 - and he'd clear 17.5 mil

They'll find a way.

I think Campbell and Church both had their replacements drafted this year. So those guys are about as good as gone.
Dareus, jackson, and Gipson are only here for another season or two as well.

We have 18 mil in cap space to roll over, which would put us about even-ish going into next season making no cuts/signings.

I wouldn't worry about it. There is no way Yannick or Ramsey are going anywhere.

We are currently 31 million over the cap for 2019, 18 million rollover would not have us at break even, we'd still be 13 million over the cap.

They will make it work and Bortles is a big reason. He's an average QB that doesn't hold us hostage like Flacco and Carr.

We've been bad so long that we will gladly pay up for those 3 guys.

Lets say another $8-10 mil cap increase as expected, we're only 3-5 over

Between Calais, Malik, Gipson, Church, and Hayden's contracts all having little or no cap penalty in 2020, we will have no problem resigning everyone we want.

That being said, we need Taven Bryan and Harrison to develop, and we still need to find another DLineman and Safety before 2020.

Little early to start worrying about cap space and re-signing players. There is a long year ahead of the Jags and a lot can happen.

Moncreif was a one year deal.

not sure where you are getting your info. We are 19 mill over... We will cut Dareus, Parnell, and Church, that is more than enough with those three alone.

Right now, it looks like it would be hard. But we're going to lose a lot of our high dollar contracts by then. The big question for me, is are we going to have the players in place to replace the big dollars players lost. Taven Bryan hopefully will be one of those. We're going to need a few more.
