There were a couple really tough calls when making this that further games will need to determine. In particular...
  • DeAndre Goolsby over James O'Shaughnessy and Scott Orndoff
  • Josh Walker over Chris Reed
  • Tyler Shatley over Tony Adams
  • Michael Bennett over Eli Ankou
  • Duwayne Smoot over Hunter Dimick and Lyndon Johnson
  • Andrew Matuapuaku over Brooks Ellis
  • FS Cody Davis over CBs Quenton Meeks and Jalen Myrick

Smoot might get the X, he has shown literally nothing. I can't recall a memorable Smoot play...

I know what you mean. Scott Orndoff has the look of a much better player than his lowly roster position. O'Shaughnessy is a VERY active player. He really keeps busy out there.

Walker has bounced around too much. If he had it, it would have shown. Chris Reed. Plus, I didn't see Josh Wells on your list. He has stepped in for Parnell often enough, and he seems to be the first man up - filling in at LT, RT and LG. That's a real go-to guy.

Shatley over Adams so far. Tyler is a terrific center and doubles as a guard. Adams is debatable.

I favor Ankou over Bennett. Michael is not holding up well as a pro.

I dropped Fowler and kept Smoot and Dimick. L. Johnson to practice squad (unless I've missed something).

When in doubt, there's always the practice squad favoring more experience.

Moncrief is meh. He was brought in to compete at the highest possible level. Where is he? Certainly not a one or two guy at all. To me he's a dog in the manger - holding back several players, who aren't receiving the reps they need to shine.

Fowler simply isn't a Coughlin guy. There was the beating he gave the wife of his child by proxy. That's unacceptable. Then what do you know? He goes meat-head and sends a guy's groceries flying. Now look. Personal conduct spilled onto the playing field. One game was NOT enough. He was unfairly and inappropriately protected in that attack on his child's mother. I'll take Smoot over that puke any day of the week, especially since he doesn't seem to conduct himself in such a way to protect his availability for work on Sundays.

BTW, I tried to correct the original post before I received a reply. So the version in your initial reply doesn't reflect the few changes I made.

I know what you mean. Scott Orndoff has the look of a much better player than his lowly roster position. O'Shaughnessy is a VERY active player. He really keeps busy out there.

I noticed Orndoff for the first time when he caught that TD, but I recall him from the draft as a player I was looking at. O'Shaughnessy gets the occasional pass catch, but I always find myself wanting more from him. I think Niles Paul will effectively supplant what he brings to the offense. That said, Goolsby just intrigues the heck out of me and I suspect he'll ultimately beat them both out, but that's a wait-and-see proposition.

Walker has bounced around too much. If he had it, it would have shown. Chris Reed. Plus, I didn't see Josh Wells on your list. He has stepped in for Parnell often enough, and he seems to be the first man up - filling in at LT, RT and LG. That's a real go-to guy.

Walker vs Reed is wide open for the last backup G spot. As for Josh Wells, I agree and have him behind Cam, but I mistakenly called him "Jonathan". It's edited now.

Shatley over Adams so far. Tyler is a terrific center and doubles as a guard. Adams is debatable.

Agreed so far, but I'm interested to see more of Adams knowing Shatley is only so good.

I favor Ankou over Bennett. Michael is not holding up well as a pro.

Another wide open competition. Michael made a nice play early in this game.

Some of you think the Jags are going to give Moncrief all that money and then cut him? Get realistic. The top 5 WRs are a lock with Moncrief, Lee, Cole, Westbrook and Chark. That’s where very WR list should start.

Keeping Wynn and Mickens? Lol

Have to point out Reed played center last night and kind of looked great. Poehls was on practice squads three years so he is ineligible for it again. Have to say WR is fun to watch this year, a lot of talent.

For the most part I agree with your selection. The exceptions for me would be based on last night. Obviously a few more games are upcoming to further solidify. At this point I’d give Dimick the edge over Smoot. Good size and strength but like Smoot, lacks technique. I believe he can hold the edge better as well. Smoot has just been so slow in development. My second exception is the Davis, Meeks, Myrick spots. I think this needs to play out more. Meeks has done well in practice and showed flashes in his limited time last night. This may come down to what positions are more valuable to the Jags: FS/SS versus CB.

This list is close to my thoughts.

I doubt Moncrief would be cut. Maybe IR'ed. Wasted cap in any case unless another WR goes down.

Smoot and Brown were draft picks, so they probably get more of a chance to stay over others. But I haven't seen anything from either one. On the play I'd keep Payne over Brown and another player instead of Smoot, not necessarily a DE since Bryan can back up Campbell and McCray can also play DE.

I'd keep Herndon or Myrick over Carey. Herndon did well in ST last night, so if he's better in coverage he moves ahead of Carey.

I agree with most of your prediction. The only two I would say differently as of now would be Wynn and Smoot. Unless things change, I have a strong feeling Smoot won't make the roster. This could allow for another WR to be kept. Also, I think Mickens beats our Wynn for the last WR spot and PR specialist. Again, this is as of now. Could change dramatically after the next few weeks.

Maybe Fowler as part of a package to send Oakland for K. Mack (started a thread on its own in this home team forum)

I thought Payne was the primary MIKE secondary... Uhhh, I just hurt my head

Payne has a good motor, but he plays wild and undisciplined. There were plays where he drew penalties for hitting out of bounds and he just flat out missed tackles. I personally based my decisions on last night's play and Payne was too up and down last night. I want consistency. This could change before the season starts though. I'll keep watching and my list might change, but I have Andrew Motuapuaka over Payne right now. Motuapuaka played very well last night.

Agree on Moncrief, I thought he was overpaid and is too injury prone, and has never really produced enough to warrant a 10 million dollar fully guaranteed 1 year deal.

As for Fowler .. LOL kick rocks dude. "the beating he gave the mother of his child by proxy". He knocked up a girl... they're no longer together but he's in the child's life, so the baby momma follows him home and trys to start a fight with his current girlfriend. If they have bad blood and are looking to fight, there's little that's going to stop it, either than can get a few swings in and then Dante steps in to stop it from getting out of hand; or she comes and finds the other girl when he's not around to step in and it gets realllll ugly. He did not put his hand on a woman, he did not inflict violence upon either woman. He is not responsible for their actions; "by proxy" you are ridiculous. To say he should be suspended for that is as asinine as it is ignorant. Now the throwing of the groceries and liquor in the lake for having his driving criticized? Yea that's a justified one game suspension, but anymore than that is gratuitous. Fowler is immature that's for sure, but he's what 22? he'll learn to compose himself and be a pro.. or he'll quickly find himself out of the league. He's a fantastic player on the field when he doesn't make boneheaded penalties and shows a lot of potential, I'd take him over Smoot based on talent any day. I don't want a team of choir boys like the gene smith era. I want someone who plays nasty and physical. Were you the guy who had his groceries thrown in the lake? because it seems like you have a personal issue against Fowler to detest him this much lmao.
Championship Formula:

1) Draft Trevor Lawrence!
2) Play good physical Defense!
3) Keep 91% of the roster healthy!
4) ???
5) Blank #2
6) CHAMPIONSHIP!!!

Maybe we would keep Moncrief over Mickens. I just didn't see enough for me to warrant keeping him on the roster over a young, promising player who can be a dangerous returner as well. I wasn't a fan of Mocrief when he was with Indy and I didn't understand his signing. He's always injured and he has hands of stone. If we cut Greene and Mickens, that means we'd be limited with who we used in the return game.

I was not impressed by Herndon last night. In coverage I watched him get beat on a couple of occasions and he badly missed a tackle on another play. Carey was specifically brought in for his ST play. That's why I had him going to the roster and Herndon going to the PS.

I'm sticking with Fowler unless we can trade him.

As for Moncrief, I'm intrigued by what he brings to the table with his height, speed, skill-set and veteran presence. He'll stay put this year unless he continues to flame out this Preseason.
Maybe Fowler as part of a package to send Oakland for K. Mack (started a thread on its own in this home team forum)

Seriously? I'd rather trade Fowler for draft picks. Mack's contract would destroy our cap.
