It was a factor but to be honest, I was pretty messed up back then in my personal life and Obama's "hope and change" message resonated pretty strong for me personally even though it meant nothing politically. So, I voted for him. Partially for his message and partially because I didn't want Palin anywhere near the WH. Call me crazy but that's where my head was at.
