Carr vs Bortles round one

Seriously, to the guys defending that Bortles might actual be better or equal to Carr at this point -- that's a resounding "no." Completely indefensible.

Carr's rookie season was much better:

58.1%, 3270 yards, 21 TDs, 12 INT.

Carr's breakout season was much better:

61.1%, 3987 yards, 32 TDs, 13 INT.

Carr's third season, so far, is light-years better:

66.5%, 1608 yards, 12 TDs, 3 INT.

That does not mean that Bortles *might possibly* be better than Carr in 5 years, but at this point, that looks highly unlikely.

I won't go as far as to say Bortles is elite, or promise he will be. At the same time, I think some critics are unduly harsh, as some, but not all factors of his play are a product of bad play around him. Also Carr has played better so far. Blake has some catching up to do, and he can start with this Sunday

All indications point to Carr being better than Bortles altogether, barring a career ending injury from Carr. That or Bortle's mechanics and decision making become way better. This doesn't mean we can't win with Bortles, just we don't have the better QB of the 2.

Khalil Mack hasnt had a monster game this season. i think this will be it, unfortunately.  I'm excited to see Ramsay vs Cooper.

Carr has been clutch this season and Blake just had great finish last game. This game will be exciting.

Be careful! Spacecoast gonna come get you!

It's pretty clear that Carr is playing better than Blake right now. Carr throws some beautiful passes and his deep ball is better than Blakes. Really the only knock on Carr coming out was that his brother was David Carr. They thought he would be timid in the pocket and fold under pressure. He's been really good and really clutch so far in his career.

Doesn't mean Blake won't be better but he has a ton of work to do in order to equal Carr's passing ability.

That's a fair assessment at this point.  This single game will not determine who's better.  But I do think this season will be a great indicator.

Clowney is far from trash, just hasn't been healthy is first few years. This is his first healthy season and is getting better and better

I pretty much agree with everyone in this article. So far, Carr is two steps ahead of Bortles.

And Wentz and Prescott are going to be better than Car..so what.  We can't have any of them so Dave should just go pick another QB if the Jags don't think Bortles is the guy.  This thread is like 9 pages of a dude crying over the girl he didn't ask out 3 years ago and can't have.

This game (1 game) is not gonna prove which QB is better than the other.

That's only something that can be determined over a big sample (at least 3 or 4 seasons worth of games).

Even then, there's SO MANY factors that come into play.

This game should be close.

Raiders defense is not good. Bortles should have success against them as long as the O-line can keep Mack out of the backfield.

Jags defense is better than Oakland's. It'll most likely be tougher for Carr against them.

The only way to tell which QB is better is if both QBs faced the same defense and had the same offense around them. It 'aint gonna happen.

I think the Jags will win this game because of the matchups.

Strengths:

Raiders offense vs Jags Defense.

That match-up will be the key.

Jags offense shouldn't have much trouble against the Raiders D. I hope not, anyway.

Well the answer is Quite obvious. Dave picked wrong

Pretty sure Carr blew Bortles out of the water. Bortles is bottom 5 in the league. Very well the worst.
