Bosa, Oliver and Williams are all great prospects but the team has put so much draft stock in the DLine that taking one of those guys would be a bad move. Not to mention his rankings could be very close in ratings which would lead to drafting a position of need when the ratings are close. We show less advertisements to registered users. The could do like Oak. did and take Bosa if their top QBs are gone and trade back in to the first and grab a QB. I wouldnt ever take a position just to take one. Hopefully their top QB will be available though so we wont have to worry about it.(11-27-2018, 11:48 AM)flgatorsandjags Wrote: Yeah, I meant to put your bigboard for the Jags. Honestly if I'm making a big board none of the QBs make top 5...
That isn't a knock on the QBs only a testament to the amount of shear defensive talent at the top of this draft. Which, in theory, could be good... maybe we trade back, add picks, and still get Grier or Lock. My top 5 4 best pass rushers, 3 edge 1 interior Bosa Oliver Ferrell Allen Williams (best OT)
Based on Needs:
1. Dwayne Haskins - Ohio State 2. Will Grier - QB - West Virginia 3. A.J Brown - WR - Ole Miss 4. Devin White - LB - LSU 5. Mack Wilson - LB - Alabama Based On Best Overall: 1. Nick Bosa - DE - Ohio State 2. Clelin Ferrell - DE - Clemson 3. Quinnen Williams - DT - Alabama 4. Greg Little - OT - Ole Miss 5. Ed Oliver - DT - Houston ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? I, who was born in a naked land and bred in the open sky. I don't have the order, but here is my current top 10 players.
Ed Oliver, DT, Houston Nick Bosa, DE, OSU Josh Allen, DE/OLB, Kentucky Greedy Williams, CB, LSU Devin White, LB, LSU Quinnen Williams, DT, Alabama Clelin Ferrell, DE, Clemson Jerry Tillery, DT, Notre Dame Dre'mont Jones, DT, Ohio State Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon We show less advertisements to registered users. It's more of what I consider a top 10 overall players in the draft. It's a very defense heavy draft, particularly on the defensive line. If we would've drafted a QB last year, we still could've ended up with a DT/DE in the 2019 draft, better than Bryan.
Haskins and Herbert would be my top 2 guys. Grier would be a solid 3rd. Obviously, these are not the best 3 players in the draft, but the Jags need to focus on the offense. They need help on the offensive line, tight end and wide receiver in addition to quarterback. Harrison should take over for Church next season and Bryan will replace Malik Jackson. If the linebackers (Smith and Jack) can play at the level they did last season, the defense will be fine.

One of these years we’ll get a gm who really takes the best available player and not their opinion on best available need. Pretty sure that’s why our top five drafts picks have mostly sucked. If one of those d lineman is the unquestioned best player when we pick, take him. Prime example we took need(Bortles) over BAP(Mack) and it makes no sense to continue to do the same over and over. If we take another qb just off need and he’s [BLEEP], they might as well move to London.

We needed an OL guy and they took a DL guy. -shrug- I don't think there's a perfect method. It's the guy making the picks that is the problem. This idea that this draft's crop of QBs isn't as good is a misnomer. I remember hearing this every other draft or so... "next years crop of [insert position here] is better" Truth is... no one of us, or any draftnik, really know if next years crop is going to be any better, healthier, or anything. If you need a QB you go get one... you don't put your fanbase through THIS kind of season and then sit on the problem for a whole year. Other than Tua (and Herbert if he stays in) I'm not sure how "next years QBs" are gonna be any better, and there is no guarantee Tua comes out as a Jr and there is no guarantee we're in position to get either next year. If we're picking top 10 and Grier or Haskins or Lock is available I think it'd be pretty stupid to not select one of them. But that's just like, my opinion, man. You're not wrong. However, we could have done better by going OL or TE and then QB in the first here and STILL end up with prem-o d talent in rounds 2 because of how heavy and deep this draft is (and how other teams will reach for offensive positions of need) Ah well... hopefully the guy(s) in charge of those screw ups is gone..... There really isn't anything else that is excusable, barring a trade down.
