I think it was the right pick. Tua's backup had to come in and save the season.

They should save the Heisman until after the season for reasons like this .

If Tua had played as much as Kyler did he would of smashed him

Yep if. Context of performance is key.

I'm fine with Kyler as Heisman, he was my #2, just felt Tua was more impressive

Wilson was 5'10 5/8" at the Combine. From everything I have read, Murray is a lot closer to 5'9".

Someone said he’s closer to Flutie.

Not to mention he’s got 5 million guaranteed and he gets to play baseball forever.

He won’t have to put his body through the NFL and most likely live a long healthy life after baseball. Living it up in Cali.

And if he reaches his potential he's going to make a LOT more money.

Baseball players do have the potential to make a lot more money, no doubt about it, but it's so much harder to make it in baseball. I read something not that long ago that like 60-65% of 1st round draft picks actually make it to the big leagues. That's years after minor league ball. Seems a bit of a risk and a bet on himself to make it in baseball, when he would be a first rounder in NFL.

Tua deserved it... but not playing in the 4th quarter of most games cost him stats. And obviously being banged up and less effective late in the season
And stats trump most things with that award

I would have to do some digging but I've found graphics that take away Kyler's 4th quarter stats and his passing stats are still ahead of Tua's in most things. Except INTs if I remember correctly.

Had a little free time decided to do the math myself:

Kyler's stats without 4th quarter play.
196 completions, 295 attempts, 3608 yards, 34 TDs, 7 INTs
99 attempts, 639 yards, 8 TDs,

Tua's stats without 4th quarter play
195 completions, 286 attempts, 3284 yards, 36 TDs, 4 INTs
48 attempts, 190 yards, 5TDs

Tua has a slight edge in TD:INT ratio and completion %

Kyler has roughly 450 more rushing yards and 1 more total TD.

Kyler did it against air (Big12 doesn't play defense)

I'm not really saying that Kyler didn't deserve it at all...
It actually went down just as I figured it would, even if Tua had a good SECCG I thought Kyler would get it based on Tua not playing a lot of 4th Qs and in some games not playing much of the 2nd half at all.

Total stats is usually what wins the award.
It's pretty much why its only a QB award now.

It isn't about who is most deserving, it's about who earned it with the biggest and best stats.
Which is OK.

IMO... Tua is a better QB than Kyler. But both are very young with room to grow.

Kyler is going the baseball route though so I reckon we'll never know just how good that kid could be.
