Who are the Jaguars interviewing?

#1

Almost everyday I see news write ups about other teams interviewing for Offensive Coordinator and other coaching
positions ....but nothing about Jaguars.
Is it being done in stealth mode?
Or already decided just not announced?

Inquiring  minds want to know.

Actually didn't mention that I had seen the one on only post in PFT from a week ago and not really convinced Bevell is the guy
.....the other is simply a list of suggestions by a newspaper that will block you after a few page loads to buy.

You constantly see where some fired HCs may return to OC's, college coaches considering the move up or move up for other pro teams
coaching staffs.

So....my original question remains....

You know as much as anyone outside the building.

Coughlin is well known for keeping things under wraps.  I wouldn't worry that they aren't active in their process of filling positions. If they indeed had Bevell for a visit, there have probably been other calls made and likely another interview. This stuff isn't always leaked.

I think we have to wait for the teams with open head coaches to make their hires, and then for those HCs to hire their OCs. We aren't going to get any of the better candidates when our FO is on the hot seat and there are 8 open OC positions with much better security.

If we hire someone before those spots gets filled it means we aimed too low for an OC that otherwise has very little to no other options.

No doubt it will be some retread who was fired from some other team.

That describes around 75% of the hires league-wide.

I don't think you'll see a lot of interviews for OC positions until the HC interview cycle is complete.

For example, Kafka maybe due to move up from QB coach to OC, but does he wait to see what happens with Bienemy? Does he tag along, get promoted as his replacement, or jump ship altogether?

If someone like Freddie Kitchens doesn't get an HC position, he would be a viable OC candidate, but like heck he's going to interview for OC-specific hires while the bigger jobs remain open.

I'd love to see them bring back Koetter at OC.

The team has announced that it will mostly use "Ask Madden", and will utilize the "Run Heavy" playbook.

So you're basically trying to setup your opinion so you can complain regardless of what happens?

We hire somebody too late, it's because nobody wants this job... We hire somebody too soon it's because we aimed to low and had a panic hire....

What, when did I say anything about too late? I'm just explaining the reality of trying to hire a coach whose entire higher ups are on the hot seat while there are a quarter of the jobs in the league open. We're going to have to wait until all of the more attractive options get filled then take the best of the leftovers. If we move early that's a good sign that we aimed too low.

Naw the only thing you're spewing is opinions and assumptions... That's it.

Interview with Bevell happening today, looking like it's fairly likely at this point. Would be a good hire I think.

"However, Bevell was a successful offensive coordinator in Seattle when Wilson was drafted — personally scouting him before the 2012 NFL Draft and developing an offense that matched his skill set. In fact, Bevell was one of the only NFL scouts at Wilson’s pro day and Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll even referred to Wilson as “Bevell’s project”." From BCC.

That's encouraging to hear.

The most important sentence of that entire excerpt.

Something else for us to consider during this process:

I had that thought.  But I saw today that he signed with the Falcons.

Not only that, but the OC's and position coaches for the teams that fired HC's cannot be interviewed without those teams giving the OK, because they could be retained.

So basically it is waiting game. They are probably doing calls to guys to see who would be interested if available, but those are all hush-hush.

This guy is very mediocre so I bet the jags love him.
