credit card but pay it off each month. credit cards are not for everyone because some people don't have the discipline to pay them off to avoid interest charges, but the benefits of using credit card is most give you 1% cash back on purchases and you also avoid carrying cash. That said, using a debit card may be the best option for most people as you don't have to carry cash and you can't spend more money than what you actually have.

This. Credit cards also usually give you purchase protections that you don't get with cash.
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

This is where I stand.

Unless cash gives me a discount, then I'm paying cash.  I also put all our recurring charges on the card, and reap the benefits. The recurring charge is part of the budget, and the card is paid in full each month.

I will add one caveat to Hurricane's advice: If you already have recurring debt on a card gathering interest, do not add to the pile. There's rarely something we WANT (not need) that is that urgent to acquire. A little discipline now makes getting future wants a lot easier.

I've got about a year to go on the student loans, and we will be debt free outside of our mortgage. It's taken a few years to get here, but it feels so nice not to simply be a middleman between my paycheck and creditors.

How about robbing the place? I didn’t see that option.

I use cash/debit card.  I don’t use my credit cards unless I absolutely have to.   Which, usually in those rare cases I just save if I can and not use the CC’s.  Your situation could be different.  If you don’t have established credit then it would be a good idea to use the advice above to build it.

Credit card. Get them points, bro. I also pay the credit card in full at least twice a month, so no interest to screw with.

I put my upcoming summer vacation on the card earlier this month for the points and the E-Bates 4% cash back. Made the payment in full yesterday and the damn thing took my payment twice. Called them up today and it'll be 14 to 17 days to get my money back. Ain't that a hoot?

Ganja man doesn't have a chip reader. Some cash, some card. Pay card every month other than small balance.

I get anywhere between 1.5 to 4% back on purchases with a credit card. I don't know why anyone would use cash unless they have to.

Just pay it off before the interest.
