See, I view this as a credible site, and they list Hockenson at 230.

While that clip of his blocking was impressive, I still question whether TC would pull the trigger on a 230 pound TE.

I can't remember a time I was this curious about a prospect's combine measurements. Laughing

Imagine not having Metcalf as your WR1 (or maybe DE1 also...)

You better do your own testing on him before you waste a draft pick. Hopefully that is an enhanced photo and not him enhancing his supplements.

Also all that muscle takes a lot of energy to use. Can he still run fast with that mass?

Metcalf and AJ Brown as freshmen. Dude has always been big and cut. His Dad was former NFL lineman Terrance Metcalf so he has big man genes.

I'm hoping they will be targeting QB, OL and even TE prior to WR personally, so I'm checking out guys that may be there in the third and later. Hard to know prior to the combine though as these receivers alter their stock quite a bit sometimes with their measurements and drills.

Guys I'm sort-of eyeballing include:

Jakobi Meyers
Terry McLaurin
Dillon Mitchell
Travis Fulgham
Keelan Doss
David Sills

Lance Zeurlein's prospect grades have just come out. They still look like a work in progress with some big names not having grades yet, but Zeurlein usually has his finger on the pulse with these things.

Some interesting receiver/TE grades in there:

Fant with 5.86 which seems quite low. Makes him the third TE and only slightly ahead of Kahale Warring with 5.74, who I had literally never heard of prior to today. Hockenson with a rating of 6.35 making him the 6th best player in the draft.

N'Keal Harry with a grade of 5.79, same as Diontae Johnson who is another player I knew nothing about.

Does Hockenson look 230 to you?  , still that question about his blocking ability

Does he "look" 230?

No.

But that doesn't mean he isn't in that range.

Again, I don't say he is a bad player.

Even at 230, his blocking and receiving skills are very good.

My question is if he isn't in the 250 lb range, would TC draft him, especially early?

My guess is probably not.

Throughout his pro coaching career, I can't recall a time he drafted a TE early-certainly not in the first round.

Harry is my guy. His game tape is full of highlight reel catches.

Hakeem Butler
JJ Whiteside
Humphrey
Jaylen Smith

These are the WRs I'd like us to target. Mid round targets. Big body WRs we seem to be lacking.
Metcalf, N'Keal, Brown... these guys are likely first rounders... Really think we gotta go QB or OL in round 1. (Barring a trade back scenario)

A WR group of Chark, Westbrook, and Butler for 2020 and beyond would be pretty good imo.

I wouldn't be upset with Hunter Renfrow in the later rounds. He just always seemed to come up with clutch catch, after clutch catch.

I like that list a lot, except for Jaylen Smith. I'm not really a fan of his. Butler, Whiteside or Humphrey would all be excellent choices though, IMO. All could probably be had in that 3rd round to early 4th round area.

Johnson is one of 3 WRs in this draft from Toledo and probably the most physically gifted of the group. Has some great route running skills and good speed to go along with it.

Definitely a Meyers fan. He's only been playing WR for 3 years, was originally a QB when he went to NC State.

He plays a lot out of the slot but I think he can be moved all around the formation and still produce.

I am definitely a fan of Meyers as well. The only drawback with him is that I don't see as much big play ability with him as I see with some of the other receivers. On the other hand, if you just want a guy who can consistently move the chains, Meyers is your guy.

Yeah. We're talking about a guy that's receiver #12 - #20 on a lot of big boards, so you can't really expect a total package.

I think he'd be good value in the middle rounds.
