Denzel Perryman

Just seen he is a FA.  I loved him coming out and is that prototype old school hard hitting MLB that is made for our D and that we have lacked since Poz left.  If we pick up any FA on D he is the guy I want.  He could fill in for Poz's role and make our D much better imo and not come with a big cap hit.  Hopefully we take a look at him depending on what type of contract he is looking for

If he's extremely cheap sure. I'm not paying much for a guy playing 30% of snaps and with an extremely poor injury record.

His overall impact on the defense would be p small

I've watched a majority of Chargers games over the past few years. When healthy, he's a good player. The problem is he just can't stay healthy. If he comes cheap enough, sure. But I think some team will overspend for him , and hoping that isn't us.

Health is the only concern with him really.  Being that he would only play in our 4-3 packages and short yardage downs, i think that would benefit him not being an everydown backer like he was in SD.  Im just not sure if a team will overspend for him being he does have an injury history and he doesnt play a premium position and he is more of a old school MLB which a lot of teams dont really use anymore but is perfect for how our D is built.

A contract with incentives for play time rising to a max of 3 million is probably the best I'd do. And even then I dunno , he's an easy target for teams to rip us from when we're in base

I always thought Perryman was a more "instinctive" type player instead of the cerebral, break down the film guy.

Right now the Jaguars have the former, but need the latter. Jack and Telvin could get there, but time is running out.
