But analytics have been around much longer than Tony Khan. The eagles use it a ton, Belichick uses it a ton, it just means extra and more advanced data being available , which literally every single team in the league should want used. It's not something to be suspicious of its benefits.

Ultimately, I feel it is still on the GM.  In American football, i feel it can be useful in distinguishing between two similarly rated players.  I’m not totally convinced yet it can be used in the NFL like it has in other sports.

1. Analytics are tool for evaluation like any other tool. They can be better or worse depending on how they are designed but no single tool will be really be able to encapsulate any athlete. NFL like the NBA has so many variables that have not been well characterized until the last decade or so and are difficult to isolate from other variables, unlike in the MLB. Also there are far few sample sizes compared to a 162 game season. NFL and NBA will get there eventually, but it will take time. 


2. All evaluation tools are based on past results. As a result, they can never be 100% when used for predictions. They can be used to get better predictions, but you will never always be accurate.
