On a scale of 1 to 10, well, my give a [BLEEP] meter struggles to register on this. The guy has walked the line of good, bad, relevant whistleblower, traitor. etc. His movement encouraged quite a few to copycat and break non-disclosures and distribute classified materials but at the detriment to their country. The dude is a creep and broke numerous laws. He isn't a saint, martyr, hero, or any other "for the cause" title. He's a criminal.

A day after Barr mentions "spying" assange is arrested...

Just a coincidence. No powers that be are going to lock him in a room until he "remembers" Cohen/stone/manafort making him hack the dnc.

Arrested for publishing classified info that exposed the names of several people who were cooperating with US intelligence, resulting in their deaths. This is not about the DNC leak.

This is going to end in his "accidental" death. It's funny how we espouse the 1st Amendment until someone says something we don't like.

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange was charged Thursday with conspiracy to commit computer intrusion for aiding Chelsea Manning in the cracking of a password to a classified U.S. government computer in 2010, the U.S. Justice Department announced hours after Assange's arrest in London

He pissed Hillary off. His suicide will happen in a week or two. Still not sure how he managed to drive two different tankers filled to the brim with diesel into each other from while he was standing between them.

He should've been smarter than that to hack an government system and then post it on his website. Bad move and I knew that he would one day be extradited back to the U.S. to face the charges. He also, as it's been said, has to be mindful of someone taking his life. This outcome is going to be interesting.

That makes no sense. The 1st Amendment does't protect you at all cost to every other law, and or right.

The 1st protects the Free Press which Assange was acting as with his work.

I think the 1st Amendment protection is assumed because he's publishing the information like the press would. The press is protected and wouldn't have been punished for releasing the same information. That's why he's being charged with assisting in the breaking into government computers instead. Which probably came from Manning's testimony alone. I can't imagine WikiLeaks would've been stupid enough to assist and / or instruct Manning on how to steal the info.

Is it okay to list his personal information in the press release?

Exactly. He didnt sell it or turn it over to a hostile foreign government, he simply published it as any journalist would.

The child isn't the government, and the government has a lower expectation of privacy.

Besides, the point is that case law says releasing the information is legal. It doesn't really matter what we think.
