Because of corruption the governments of the Northern Triangle aren't protecting their citizens. If it was your family wouldn't you do what you could to get them to the safest place possible? Or just be content in a tent just across the border in a country unable to offer you any more security or shelter that the hellhole from which you escaped?

"Aren't protecting" is a long way from actively going after citizens, which is what asylum is there for.

Mexico is offering sanctuary. But if that isn't good enough because it doesn't give them comfortable housing, medical care, food, and education, then you've made my point. They are coming here to be taken care of at other people's expense.
