Trump could change that position with some public statements but he has not done so.
Regardless, events in Crimea could be relevant for answering the question of Trump has abused his power.

I am simply pointing out that the idea that Trump is to blame for their presence in Crimea is asinine.  I think this is the third or fourth time turner that were looking for, frankly im starting to loose count.  

As for US Policy in the region yes we would like for them to leave, the NK to abandon all nukes, Hearts Stars Rainbows Clovers and gender nonbinary something or other.  There's no one talking about drafting a million people and risking a nuclear exchange to take back the Crimea by force.  Conversely, the main objective of this administration has been to facilitate strategic deterrence against any further Russian aggression into the Greater Ukraine by arming the Ukraininans through Weapons Sales and Military aid that the former administration was unwilling to give them.  The idea that Trump has just given them some kind of blank check in the region just isn't born out by the facts.  Moreover, Trump has lead the way in a.) demanding that our NATO allies actually spend to the levels of commitment on their own defense and b.)publicly called out our European Allies for continuing to buy Oil and Natural Gas from Russia.  That's a far cry from being a rubber stamp for the Kremlin.
