I'm currently doing the Whole30 diet, anyone else have any experience with it? Seems interesting so far.

Anything that removes sugar and grains from your diet is good. Not I'd be able to follow the whole no drinking bit.

Aye but no beans and rice either. Or dairy. The drinking part isn't so bad. I don't need it. I smoke pot lol.

Basically low carbs then is it? Yeah if push gave to shove I'd probably give up the drink before the weech.

I have been wanting to try this dietary change but am having to get all the no-go foods out of the house first as I'm not throwing it away. We're almost there.

How long have you been doing this? Do you feel better overall?

I have only an ounce of red wine at night, keep to low carb veggies, try to eat my protein, fat, and carbs by macros with lower carbs and higher fat percentages. I only add sugar in the raw to my coffee. Actually it's almost the only thing I eat or drink that has added sugar. I do like my siggi's skyr, an Icelandic yogurt, and they do add a little sugar, but it's the only yogurt I will eat. I hate giving up quinoa and probably will still have it once a month in a recipe I have and enjoy. My one cheat other than my wine is one ounce of blue corn tortilla chips. I love those things!

First couple days were a little rough. You really have to properly prepare foods. I'm getting my carbs off potatoes basically but have increased my greens substantially. I'm a habitual convenience eater, and on it, I had to spend 30 minutes in Whole Foods trying to find something that I could eat for lunch. So that's a nice part of it, is it really makes you pay attention to what you are eating.

On the flip side, since I cook well, and enjoy it, I'm spending time making super good meals. Tonight for example, I had braised crispy pork belly, In the braising liquid with the pork belly I had shallots and brussel sprouts in it. First time making it, but it was the bomb. Just need to get the skin side a liiiitle crispier.

Other than the pork part that sounds delicious. :-) I do chicken, fish, seafood, beef. No pork. And yeah, it does make you more aware of how and what you eat. I prefer actual and real food. The sight of fast food or any junk food turns my stomach.

I've been eating a ketogenic diet for the last while and it is glorious.

Basically it just means you eat little to no carbs and gorge yourself on high fat and high protein like meat/eggs/cheese with some green thrown in as well. Your body then adjusts and starts to burn fat as its primary energy source.

Rarely hungry and always have a ton of energy. Bread is the devil.

Basically just what I'm doing, but i am eating potatoes and slowly removing carbs out of my system by eating less and less since I'm doing such a drastic change in my eating. I've already lost 10lbs and not really exercising atm. I have went into ketosis and that is interesting in its own right.

My buddy is on it with me. He's a career binge eater of all things processed and junk food. After a week in a half, he ate a "self proclaimed" best chocolate chip cookie, and hated it. He said he was able to taste each individual ingredient down to the baking soda and salt. After a brief moment of panic, he looked at me and was like, "Yoooouuuuuu, what did you do to me!?!?" Then his wife tried it and then was taken aback by it too.

I am becoming a fruit fanatic on it though. I find citrus to be the nectar of the gods. That and green veggies. And eggs. And now I'm going to go get something to eat.

Cutting out potatoes is so tough man. Yeah the first two weeks of it you feel pretty [BLEEP] but after that you get a big energy boost.
