Obviously you have TV roles pulling some but take someone like Peyton Manning. Would he want to coach? I'm not saying make him HC. Coaches are picked by the HC and usually it's their call but I've been impressed by McCardell and wouldn't mind us bringing a few ex-players back as assistant coaches.

Our WRs are a bright spot on the team.  Keenan has done a good job.  Just thinking out loud, I'm not sure he's ready to be a HC.  But we could do worse.  He'd definitely bring some personality and competitive fire to the position which is sorely lacking right now.  In fact, I wouldn't hate pairing him with JDR as the DC.  Del Rio has put good defenses on the field wherever he's been.  If he could graduate to DC specialist like Wade Phillips, I don't think Jack would ever lack for a coaching job.

And I like Kane's suggestion of Louis Riddick as GM.  Mike Mayock went from the analyst chair to the Raiders and has done a good job so far.

Thanks. This is what I was thinking really, just using Manning as an example, the guys knowledge on the field was so impressive. The chess matches him and Belichick D's would have. Could he build a playbook?
Every year we elect guys to the hall of fame, theres so many great ex-players out there and of course not all will want to coach or could coach at the NFL level but It does feel a bit of an under-utilised path.

I said I'm not hating the idea of Del Rio as DC. He built that Denver D. Wade Phillip's took it over the top but Del Rio built it up.

Also agree with Riddick. Very knowledgeable guy and seems to get that relationship with the modern players.
