This was also just reported during the Pro Bowl broadcast. So sad.

Holy crap. I don't care for basketball at all and this news has shocked me. I know Bryant was a solid player and teammate as well as a family man.

Goodness gracious. Prayers for his family and friends.

Better than solid, I'd say Hall of fame level. It's terrible to hear.

Kobe, his 13 year old daughter, a teammate of his daughter and their parent, as well as the pilot all died in the crash.  Sad

They were on their way to a travel basketball game.

RIP

Kobe wasn't just a solid player, he was one of the greatest to ever play the game. He's right up there with Jordan as one of the all time greats. The man is a legend.

Wow. This is a shock. I don't follow the NBA, but Bryant always came across to me as a grateful and gracious man. It's especially sad with his daughter and another child gone too. I hope the best for his family.

I mean losing Kobe is devastating, but losing 2 teenagers is gut wrenching.

For someone who doesn't follow basketball AT ALL- as I said in my reply- 'solid' is the best word I could come up with. Also, there was a lunatic criminal with multiple warrants being chased by a crap ton of cops across my neighbors yard just as I was replying so I was somewhat distracted.

It's been a weird day.

This is a tragedy. I really feel for his family and especially the family of the other victims.

I didn't mean to come off a certain way, if it sounded like I did.

I know you said you didn't follow basketball at all, which is why I replied how I did. Just wanted to let you know how great the man was at the game of basketball. Here's a list of his achievements in the sport.

He played 20 seasons (all with the Lakers) and is 4th in all time scoring, in league history (LeBron literally just passed him up last night to take 3rd all time). He also helped the USA win Gold Medals in the 2008 and 2012 Olympics.

So awful. RiP to a top 2 clutchest person in NBA history. Weird to think we are the same age. I can't even imagine what his family is going through right now.
