This offense is struggling because of our O-Line

#1

Not to go into a lengthy bash thread but basically DC built a $200 mil D-Line and ¢2 O-Line.

This is Luke Joeckel's last year in Jacksonville, count on it. Dave Caldwell chose not to extend him for a fifth season. That to me looks like an admission Joeckel is a bust.

Brandon Linder moved to center in training camp. I give him a pass because he is learning a new position and injured.

Kelvin Beachum is an upgrade at LT when he plays. Unfortunately he had to miss two preseason games with a knee injury while learning a new playbook. I think he will be OK after completing the concussion protocol.

Jermey Parnell needs to stop making mental errors. He can pass block but got caught holding a Ravens player.

The pass blocking is fine, the run blocking sucks. I think it's the scheme. The guys are strong enough to block rushes but for some reason they can't create holes at all? Doesn't add up, at the very least they shouldn't be this god awful at run blocking. It has to be the scheme. More evidence that it's bad scheming than anything else.

Isn't Doug Marrone supposed to be an OL guru? What is his job on this team?!

The pass blocking is far from fine. BB5 running for his life with 4 men rushing. He has no pocket that he can rely on.

Hot take

Jermey Parnell is getting blown up in the run game. We keep signing other teams' backups to be our starters and expect them to be fixtures. Cann and Shatley were getting mauled almost as bad. Joeckel was actually our best lineman last game, surprisingly.

Not true, go back and watch the tape. A lot of the sacks Blake takes are on him. The first sack of the game yesterday was because Blake ran right into Terrell Suggs after Joeckel had him blocked. Blake just takes a lot of unnecessary sacks. The protection around Blake most of the time this season has been good.

People continue to casually overlook this.

You know knarnn, I am not one to believe conspiracy theories, but given this disgusting OL play, I am starting to think that Marrone may be sabotaging Bradley at this point.

People really need to look at the comments coming out of Buffalo even before Marrone left before they start claiming for him to inherit the HC gig after Gus

Pretty ugly.
Ugly. Parnell and Cann have been abused this year. That second one Blake should have checked out of. On a good note...what about that Shatley block!

Some of us on the board were very vocal about the need at Oline that was not addressed this offseason...

We need to invest both in FA and the draft to rebuild the line.

Yeah I think it was a move by Caldwell to save money for other positions. He knows he needs to build the line through the draft, he chose the last draft to have all defense. Ends up cutting guys like Holmes. He thought a Beachum-Joke-Linder-Cann-Parnell line would be good enough to get the team through. Problem is there is absolutely no depth.

He has to resign Bortles, Robinson, Linder, and Telvin at some point but their contracts dont end till 2018. The only one in a contract year this year he may consider resigning are Cyp and Amukamara. Hopefully we get to see more of Prince. I think he would want to resign one or more of those 4 I mentioned though this upcoming offseason so that they all don't end up in a contract year.

we should have upgraded our interior.  Moving Linder to center was not an upgrade.

I am not even sure what to think about Cann and Parnell. They haven't really played that great.

Tony Boselli says center is the most important, right after LT. He praised the coaches for moving Linder from guard to center.

Cann is not good enough.  Nobody who played in the interior this past Sunday should be kept around.  Can be easily upgraded. We need to sign veterans AND supplement with draft picks. Not just one or the other.

Keep Linder, Beachum and Parnell.  Upgraade the other two spots with GOOD players. not MAYBE players.

Stefen Wisniewsi was bad. It is hard to not upgrade the center position.
