C.J. Henderson - Rd1, Pick 9 (merged)

#1

Newest Jaguar C.J. Henderson got drafted with the 9th pick.

Not a fan personally with selecting him at #9.

Hope he succeeds and doesn't end up becoming toxic, because he certainly didn't look happy getting drafted here.

Not happy. There was top OT talent on the board, all the WRs, even Kinlaw at that point.
We took a good player but we need to find out what Minshew is and with the board falling like that you take the best available option on offense in my opinion.

Not excited about reaching for a CB at 9.  We could have fixed the LT position with 3 top OT's available.  Could have easily gotten a good CB in round 2 in a deep draft.

No, he didn't. Bad omen. His dad was excited, but he looked depressed. Should've grabbed Whirfs or somehow traded down.

Literally the first reach this draft. What an awful pick. I've been looking forward to this for so long and now just feel like the night is ruined regardless of the 20th pick.

I 100% agree that we should have taken Wirfs/Wills to shore up our o-line for either Minshew or the next QB that will step in for us.

Henderson was a tremendous reach at 9 in my opinion.

I hope he succeeds here and I truly hope this guy doesn't become a major problem for us.

I love the pick. He is by far the second best CB in the draft.

Not a reach. He’s been mocked to us plenty the past 2 months. Now sure I would have preferred a trade back but it takes two to tango.

Yes, reached out of desperation to fill a gaping need. He was probably about 15/16 in value. Hate to see that happen. I guess Dave saw a huge gap between Henderson and the rest of the remaining CBs. I hope this can be balanced by someone dropping precipitously to #20, like Kinlaw or Becton.

It's exciting to me. I was worried about not being intrigued causa all the chalk up top. This pick ignites my intrigue. Go Jags!

I guess all these guys are depressed

To be fair, I follow UF closely and I've never seen CJ Henderson smile, even when he makes a play

I thought he looked emotional, not that he wasn’t happy.

A little insider info....my kid is a GA coach at Florida and he just told me CJ is an almost awkwardly quiet dude. Works his butt off, but is just really introverted.

CB was definitely a major need for our team and Dave certainly felt the talent drop-off after Henderson at CB was major.

I was just surprised with who was still available...

Thats reassuring then.

Sounds like he will suit up and get to work then - or at least I hope.

Man, should've been Whirfs, the next Walter Jones. Now stuck with an oft-injured liability at LT, whose contract is up next year. Dave was only drafting for his job on the line, gambling Cam can be mediocre and stay healthy.
