A couple of things here:

1. Regardless of how often they actually call plays designed for Minshew to pass from the pocket, to think he doesn't need to improve that aspect of his game is silly. Otherwise opponents with better defenses will employ the same defensive strategy the saints did last year vs Minshew and his production will take a negative hit when unable to improvise freely.  You ALWAYS develop young QBs ability to operate from the pocket.  Personally I think he will do better there w/ better protection, which brings up to the second point. 

2. You say he needs to improve his pocket presence.  His pocket presence is outstanding. It's very, very good and is one of his greatest assets.  What he needs to improve from the pocket is the speed with which he processes his reads and releases the ball. Again, this will be aided by protection but we did see him hold the ball too long at times - enough to recognize room for improvement. In this regard, one should not diminish the impact his stature impedes him from viewing crowded throwing lanes. I expect (hope) that this will be a consideration for Gruden as he designs a playbook for Minshew as opposed to one designed for a 6'5" QB like we saw last season.
