OW Position Coach Hired

#1

OK - I'm kidding.  But somebody's gotta show 'Viska the ropes, right?

Anyway - Denard Robinson is officially an offensive quality control coach for the Jags as of today.

Among many other duties, he will make sure all the player's shoelaces are appropriately tied.
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

Perhaps a rookie symposium on falling asleep behind the wheel with your car partially submerged in a retention pond.

He has good experience.  In his only year as a coach (as an offensive analyst in 2019), he lead the JU Dolphins to last place in the Pioneer League prior to them dismantling their football program.   Seriously, JU no longer has a football program.

Caldwell thinks this hire moves him up 6 spots in the 3rd round of the draft.

No kidding, we just hired a dude for a Quality Control position that was driving under the influence as he drove his car into a retention pond at 4am in the morning during a football season in which he was an active player on the Jags.

Stay tuned for our next hire, Justin Blackmon.

Nah I remember the story. Just not sure why Hurricane is acting like some guy hired to be an offensive quality coach is some giant move needing to be attacked.

4 years ago the kid did some dumb stuff. So what, I say.
Last year he had a job as an analyst for a team that was bad. Again, so what.

But Hurricane over here having a conniption.

Does anyone actually know what a quality control coach does?

From wikipedia (FWIW):

quality control coach is a member of the coaching staff of a gridiron football team whose primary job is preparing the team for a game, beginning sometimes two or three weeks before the actual game. Their primary duties include preparing for the game by analyzing game film for statistical analysis.

Sounds like good work if you can get it. :-)

They serve to assist the coordinator and position coach(es) on whichever side of the ball they specialize.
The position is often but not always used to cultivate aspiring coaches in need of experience.

Denard Robinson took part in a program that NFL owners created to encourage diversity in coaching.
I believe it was this one: https://operations.nfl.com/the-players/n...ellowship/

Here is Marrone speaking on the two recent hires:

As a QB in college and then playing RB in the NFL he will be a good addition with his experience.

1,310 career yards from scrimmage.  Kind of makes you wonder how we didn't win more Super Bowls with he and Toby Gerhert in the same backfield !!!
