Every person he hires that he thinks is the right person is just as swampy as the last person, but where are the non-swamp candidates? There aren't any because everyone who is qualified is also part and parcel of the Machine. That's how Institutions evolve to protect themselves, and the only real fix is to end the entire government, fire everyone, and start over.

You're saying everyone is a member of the deep state except Trump?  And that no one is qualified for these jobs who is not a member of the deep state?

Pretty much everyone that he thought was on his side...isn't. He's discovering what it's like to be a true maverick in Washington D.C. now. Not the John McCain "Maverick who just blows the other party because he hates his own Party", but a guy who makes changes that both Parties are against. The federal bureaucracy is massive, but occasionally he gets a outsider in there who can actually make some progress, like this new guy Michael Pack, a filmmaker, who is immediately and ruthlessly eliminating the pervasive influence of the deep staters in the global media. You can tell it works when a Google News search is nothing but stories about how he's facing a backlash from...the GOP for his wide and wholesale changes to the organization.

I thought the "deep state" idea was that there was a secret cabal of government employees hidden deep in the government that tried to subvert policies they didn't like.  But if everyone in the government is in the "deep state," then there is no deep state.

It's not a secret, they aren't hidden, and they are doing exactly that. Most importantly they aren't a small group, they are a multiple Trillion dollar bureaucracy.

Who ever thought Michael wouldn't be the worst Bolton.

Also the definition of "draining the swamp" is quite vague. Betsy DeVos was hailed as "non swamp" By Trumpster while sharing all the qualities of swamp dwellers.

And as a whole, it's still very funny Trump is hailed as a man of the people despite a long career rubbing shoulders with the Clintons and Epstein

I could remember the tide turning against Bolton when Trump supporters said he should be fired for suggesting we not go to war with Iran.

With that said the book is a money grab, he could have said all this in the impeachment trial.
Whether someone has a liberal, or conservative viewpoint, a authoritative figure should not lock a thread for the sole purpose to get the last word in all the while prohibiting someone else from being able to respond.

As I recall, Bolton was the one who wanted to go to war with Iran, more than anybody else did.

It's almost like Bolton created a new persona for himself that took him into the role of contrarian, like he has the most to gain by being the only Bushie who wanted to fight Iran then being the only Trumpie who didn't. He calls it the "Mikesez Identity" in his tell all.

Yes you are correct, thank you for that.

Trump and Bolton had some public disagreements about Iran that soiled their relationship.

Nope.  He wanted to fight Iran ASAP in both cases.
