If someone did and Yan is still here, then Caldwell should be fired.

The team trading for Yan would also need to sign him to a new deal in parallel to the trade. Otherwise Yan could simply refuse to sign the franchise tag and stall out any trade efforts. If they have an issue with his contract demands, I could understand a deal falling through. It was rumored before the draft that this pretty much happened with Oakland.

Adams is arguably one of the best, if not the  best, at his position. Yawn Is not(hell might not even be the best on his team if Allen keeps progressing).

Adams has two more years left on his contract. Yawn is on a tag.

Adams is second best at his position, behind Mathieu.

Yan will not be as good as Allen this year and moving forward. I think he's reached his peak. He may have 2-3 more years at or near double digit sacks, but I think he will have to become a third-down specialist to stay in the league as he ages because of his smallish DE stature. I hope Caldwell didn't receive any first round offers for Yan and turn them down. That would be upsetting at this point.
Agreed.

IMO, Adams was in a similar position as Ramsey(among top at their positions and contracts at similar stages). So They give the team that they went to the ability to not sign a huge contract immediately after their arrival. That’s why they yielded similar compensation.

Yan is not any of that... at all.

He was a great story to follow and up until this season most of this town loved him. But after this offseason, I don’t give a [BLEEP] where he ends up, just get away from here.

Drafting Allen is still showing its value a year later.
