The Message from the Voters

#1

Biden wins, and the Republicans won everything else.

The lesson of this election is this: the voters want moderation.  They don't want Trump, but at the same time, they don't want Medicare for All, they don't want to defund the police, they don't want socialism.

To which I say, good.  I agree.  Perfect.

If current election results legitimately and fairly hold then I think that has some merit. But this wasn't a case of Trump under performing Down Ballot tickets. This was a situation of down ballot candidates coming in DRAMATICALLY lower than Biden in some instances. There were millions of votes that just had Biden selected and no interest in down ballot races. Now, I break with some on the right who think this indicates wrong doing. It certainly indicates that there is a cross section of the Democrat Electorate that is only interested in the presidency. That detracts a little from your overall thesis that the country consciously chose moderation.

In reality, the margin from 2016 was razor thin in 3 traditionally democratic states, and they were also aided by a strong Green Candidate. Both sides exponentially increased their turnout, and ultimately the biggest difference is no Jill Stein to steal far left votes and Biden put together a clear compromise with the Bernie AOC wing of the party. Hats off to them.

The sad part that will ultimately be washed over in the pages of history if Trump looses will be the coalition he formed. Donald Trump will probably have the second most amount of popular votes in the history of the country more than likely edging out Obama's 2008 victory. He will receive a greater percentage of the non-white vote than Any Republican Since Richard Nixon. He won Married Women, He broke records with hispanics. The list goes on. 69 million raw vote was a fever dream for republican consultants. If he looses it took a pandemic and 2 months of early voting to push back against the strongest Dog the GOP has brought to the fight in its history.

Based on what you said, I suppose it is a fact that the "lazy vote" always goes to the Democrat, and mail in will never actually help the Republican party no matter who the candidate is.

Agreed, which is why I am an Independent. Neither party's agenda is appealing to me. I like some ideas from one party and some ideas from another. I believe deep down, most Americans feel the same way, but they keep voting extremists from both parties, because they think they have no other choice.

Are you saying people who voted mail-in are lazy, just because they wanted to stay out of the crowds of people in election lines, coughing all over one another during a pandemic? Not to mention the freezing cold weather, (we can't all live in nice, warm places like Florida.) If so, that is very obtuse. I know just as many people here in Ohio who mail-in voted for Trump, than I do people who voted for Biden. Choosing to do things the "common sense" way, doesn't make people lazy, it makes them intelligent. If someone gives you an easier way to do things without penalty and you turn it down, that doesn't make you diligent, it makes you stubborn and hard-headed.

I'd definitely opt for none, over far-right or far-left ideas being implemented.

We should have never agreed to mail in.  Completely untraceable unverifiable etc.  Some states want to count ballots that arrive 7 days later. Its a mess!!!

Mail in is not the problem and despite what you choose to believe, there is no massive voter fraud. The problem is that some states are so stupid, they chose to make outlandish election laws that allow votes to come in late. They should've been on the same page as the majority of other states. We need uniform laws and rules for national elections.

There are shenanigans in this election. The morning after, I was ready to accept that Biden lost. After looking at the numbers, I don't buy it. I don't think it matters unless Trump can't prove that Dems cheated, but I won't ever believe they won this thing fairly. You mean the party that rigged the election against Bernie only wants to play fair with Trump? Get out of here. They are fighting for total control of this country. Senate is next.

As to the bolded part, the only thing I can think of that would rationally explain that is young people only voting for Biden with no interest in politics, so it's not impossible. I can rationalize almost every weird thing that has happened this election, but, collectively, it doesn't make sense. WAY too many abnormalities in voting behavior and practices. Universal mail-in voting played a key role in creating this chaos, and the people that could have cleaned it up didn't want to. Democrats love to point fingers at Republicans for complaining, but they literally break every system designed to regulate integrity.

The same people who wanted to stay out of the crowds of people in elections lines are in the dairy aisle at the grocery store every weekend with a mask on, socially distancing. I am saying that mail-in voting wasn't necessary for people to perform their civic duty if they choose to. Absentee balloting could have easily replaced mail-in voting. There was plenty of time for people to request a ballot if they wanted one. Flooding the entire voter roll (dead included) with ballots they didn't ask for is terrible.

Not me. I do a Walmart click list. I order groceries online and they bring them out to my car. I haven't been in a grocery store since before the pandemic. I no longer need to. My entire family does this now. So do many of our friends. I never did it before the pandemic, but I love it. I'll do all my Christmas shopping online as well.

As far as not voting in person, aren't we talking about absentee balloting? I thought that was what mail-in voting was. My family all voted absentee. We requested ours months ago and turned them back in weeks ago. Isn't there just absentee balloting, early voting and in person voting? That is the only way to vote here in Ohio.

No. This is what we have been complaining about. Universal Mail-In just sends ballots to every registered voter, regardless of whether or not they requested it. However, I think this only really affects Nevada. Wisconsin sent a ballot request to all voters, whether or not they asked for it.

Absentee balloting is TOTALLY different than main-in voting. You have to request an absentee AND they match your signature. It is a legitimate process that has been in place for a long time. I am actually registered to do it, but choose to shred my ballot at the polling station and vote in person for presidental elections.

Main-in voting is being sent a ballot (or 10) without asking for it and in some cases having "people" show up at your door to help you fill it out, in turn whichis called ballot harvesting.

I was not aware that mail-in ballots were different from absentee ballots. They apparently aren't used in Ohio. Maybe that is why Ohio was declared so early, even though it was a much closer race than I anticipated. We run a pretty tight ship up here. Why did some states allow mail-in balloting if absentee ballots were available? This makes no sense to me.

I don't know the state by state break down of where absentee balloting is implemented. All I am saying is that there was time to implement absentee balloting in states that didn't already have it due to the pandemic.

Bottom line, this stinks to high Heaven and isn't even close to over. If anything, it's about protecting future elections.
