Not just Bortles, he defends all our under giving tackles as well. Man I would not want Boselli as GM. If his picks are anything like how he evaluates football players in his takes we are going to be near Gene Smith levels of ineptitude. He’s a total homer for jags, like at a unthinking level.

I think he's been decent but even though he's relatively new he's too high on the food chain for me to keep. 

If we weren't in a total house cleaning situation I'd be with you I think.

I'm not real high on him.  He was released abruptly from the last 2 jobs he's had.  The book on him I've read is he is old school, not real big on analytics, and people think he's not as cognitively there as he used to be.  I'll try to find that article.

Browns are on their way to the playoffs and the Chiefs are the best team in the league the last 2 seasons.

Lol, yeah who would want a GM that build a team into a power house?  Drafted Kelce, Hill, Fisher, Mahomes, Jones  etc.  Has helped build the Browns from the bottom to a playoff team, first time in almost 20 years. Its comical every time you bring him up and act like he was a trash GM lol.  I know you want another Dave Caldwell GM with no experience.

Forget that. He would not build a winning culture here as would just be another in a long line of failure's the Jags have had.

I would want Gruden as the OC only not a HC or GM...He hasnt been back in the league long enough yet. but sure enough, it wont be long before some teams start throwing HC offers at him

Again, I'm no expert at all when it comes to GM candidates, but I've been trying to read up and educate myself about guys that might be candidates. I know a lot of people here are divided on John Dorsey. I'm not high on him at all. He's been fired from too many teams and from what I've read, he doesn't really do well with salary cap issues. The one guy I've been reading really good reviews on is Ed Dodds, Asst. GM of the Indianapolis Colts. He's widely considered to be one of the top scouts in college football and has helped build a Colts O-Line and defense which was once considered to be the bottom of the NFL, into real strengths of the team. Not to mention that the Colts are tied for the division lead and aren't that far removed from losing their franchise QB to a surprise retirement. Chris Ballard is widely considered one of the top 3 GM's in the NFL and Dodds has been right there with him. Just look at the mess they walked into when Ryan Grigson was fired. He was absolutely one of the worst GM's I've ever seen. He had a great QB and absolutely nothing around him. In a short time after Ballard took over the Colts were relevant again and they turned their weakest areas into strengths and Dodds is considered one of Ballard's most trusted advisors and his right hand man.

I like many others have no use for another GM retread. I want someone from a winning organization who was serving under a successful GM and who has an eye for talent. IMO, Dodds fits that standard. I also really don't want some TV analyst serving as the GM either. I've heard Bucky Brooks and Daniel Jeremiah mentioned by some and that would be my nightmare. My personal picks for openings would be.......

HC- Eric Bieniemy, OC, Kansas City Chiefs
OC- Joe Lombardi, QB Coach, New Orleans Saints

NFL ethics has been that a higher title is more important than personal loyalty.  Right or wrong, no one will frown on those guys taking the offers, if the Jags choose to make them.

That wasn't my point/question. My point is that usually when coach A is hired from team B he usually builds that staff with a lot of underlings from team B and perhaps a couple of other guys from his past that are maybe in other staffs right now.

Is it often that a new coach builds a staff using team A's WR coach as his OC and team B's LB coach as his new DC
And I used the term poach loosely. Just wondering how often a new HC will just build a staff from random up and comers... like does Bienemy have ANY ties to Lombardi or Olsavsky?
