Does anyone remember the third Mighty Ducks Movie?  It seemed like such a far fetched premise....  now look where we are!

I see the trend that it is the crappy bottom feeder teams that are being forced into name changes. Based on that trend, FSU is next. Warriors and Chiefs are safe for awhile until they suck again.

No worries, the new moniker of the London Jaguars is on the way!

Is there a tipping point percentage we should observe? If only 5% of those with that ancestry are offended but the rest are indifferent or proud of the name, do we change it?

I can't give you a percentage, but, I can say that if you start seeing protests outside the stadium, and the protestors are from that ethnic group, it's time to consider a new name.  If they care enough to spend their afternoon protesting, and they were actually born into that group, you should probably consider their opinion.  I'm maybe 1/4 swedish and 0% irish.  No native american ancestry.  My opinion doesn't count here.  But yours might.

1% of an ethnic group can make a lot of noise and not fully represent the other 99%.

I have the forms right over here. Pay no attention to that lawyer gibberish there about what you're agreeing to do, it's just boilerplate. Just sign at the bottom and we'll go shopping for your new outfits.

Now that two major sports teams have relented, there's definitely going to be a larger effort. Mainly by white liberals who feel an obligation to be offended for other people.

Over the years I've read several articles concerning the Indians name and it's a mixed bag. It seems there are as many, if not more, actual Indians who are indifferent of the name than those who are offended.

Do the FSU outreach tact. Offer scholarships, creative input and other benefits to Native American groups for approval to use the name. Either that or shoulder the expense of rebranding. That's what it's coming down to.

They never appear to be offended by casinos bearing their names.

There was a baseball team called the Cleveland blues in the 1800s, I forget if it was before or after the spiders.
I dont think that would be a good name to switch to, because the shirts and pants they've worn for decades are more red than blue.
But their socks are blue, so "Blue Sox" might be a good team name as well.
I like Rocks the best though. Makes for fun games between the Rocks and the Rockies.

I think the Atlanta Braves should change their name as well.
Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta Hawks. The baseball team should be another bird of prey, the Atlanta Eagles.

Solution right here...

Cleveland Foxwoods.

Or Cleveland Mohegan Suns.

Yea, they are CT casinos... but still two of the biggest.

When they name it after themselves, it's not offensive.
It's when we name it after them that we end up on shakey ground.

I was a bit surprised that the Washington Redskins beat the San Francisco 49'rs.  I didn't think they would.  I do hope that Alex Smith is alright and able to continue his career.

I also think that if snowflakes are "offended" or "shamed" because of a team name/mascot they need to get over it.  Nobody had a problem with the Redskins name for 80+ years.  It wasn't until today's PC culture (liberal snowflakes) that it became some kind of "problem".

So then the Native American artist's team logo, that he created to honor his people...it's fine for white liberals to cancel his work?
