Frozen Wind Turbines in Texas Expose Major Flaw in Renewable Energy

1) their grid is not connected to grids in other states,
2) most of their natural gas and coal plants aren't winterized.

If the water pipes around the power plant freeze, the plant has to shut down.  And when their plants shut down, they can't buy electricity from other states. That's what's happening.

Just got off of a conference call with one of our Texas clients, and they echoed the same points.  However, this same thing happened to them in 2011, and thier governemt/energy companies did nothing since to correct the situation, so they are understandably not currently happy at the moment with their legislators.  Texas is slowly turning blue, so this isn't a suprize at all, really.

The whole "green energy" dream is just that... a dream.  As a supplement it's fine, but it is impossible to be 100% "green".  Wind turbines, solar usage, hydro plants still need petroleum to work, and in many cases they are not very efficient.

Someone should tell Texas about the working wind turbines in Alaska. I’m sure they’ll get warm just knowing about that.  And you’re calling someone else an idiot! Laughing

Funny, I don’t feel owned. Did you know there are wind turbines in Antarctica? And they’re turning right now! Someone explain to me how frozen wind turbines are the problem. Please. I’m dying to know.
But not dying as hard as Rush.
Oops, too soon for the snowflakes?

Do you have to try to miss points or does it come naturally for you?

Those turbines in alaska could help warm up Texas... If the grids were connected.

Are you referring to a method of simplifying the transfer of an energy source from one location to another? Wouldn't the Biden administration just shut that down?

Oh, that’s cold. Know what wouldn’t be cold right now? Texas, if their power grid hadn’t been designed by people with the mental acuity of a playground bully who wanted to make sure they never had to share.

Texas is purple, turning blue, I'd imagine the democrat legislators in the state are a big part of it's current condition.

Texas government has been solidly red for about 25 years now.  That might change soon, but it hasn't changed yet
Some of the decisions that caused the current problems were made by Democrats, yes, but Republicans have had plenty of time to fix them.
But I wouldn't blame either party.  It's petty.

And yet the turbines would still be frozen in Texas, would they not? So you can try to move the point of the conversation around, like you always do, but nothing you’re saying has anything to do with the fact that the turbines are frozen in Texas. Period.
