Free-agency is for patching holes at a cost that makes sense. The Jags right now have a lot of holes. They're being smart.

Would you pay $40,000 for a tube of woodfiller, stain, and some extra screws when you need to build pretty much an entire deck?
You're Welcome.

Not hard to improve when you’re the worst in the league.

It's not if we improved, it's how much have we already improved.   They are saying 3rd most before the draft even

We had the worst roster and the most money. It's actually pretty wild and an indictment that we didn't wind up first on the list.

And it’s not hard to improve the most if you’re already the worst. And the WFT went 7-9 so they had plenty of room to improve. They just so happen to play in a terrible division.

We still have the most cap space available

Big deal.  We didn't get the "most improved trophy" in the off season (before the draft).  However we still got the "participation trophy" since we did sign some free agents.

The Bucs got Tom Brady as a free agent. It kind of made a difference.

Well, they did have a roster ready to compete for a championship that they built through the draft. So by that logic, we should build through the draft and then make this a desirable place to want to compete for championships at

Suh, Gronk, JPP, Barrett, AB, Fournette, Jensen..... None of these players were drafted by the Bucs.

It's always a combination of both and the Bucs don't win the SB without Brady and these guys. Especially the pass rushers.

Ain't no FA being done right about it...Urban wanted to get the elite guys, we just struck out plain and simple. Trevor better be suuuuuper good.

Urban said he didn't want to sign guys he didn't get to meet in person or his coaches hadn't coached in the past. That is why he didn't go blindly after big names he didn't know anything about. This is why every guy we signed he either knew personally or was coached by one of his coaches in the past. He isn't going to throw money at a guy he doesn't know and trust.

I personally didn't hear him say this, but it is sound business. The rebuild effort underway is not easy, the results will be added to our new coach's current reputation. I am sure we have tried and missed on a few free agents. Specifically those that look at the Jags and see the last 10 years record and want no part of a rebuild process based on a rookie QB and coach that have never been in the NFL.  The really good ones will get great money from a lot of teams, that is the the way it works.  As for what our strategy is, none of us actually know what it is and are guessing. Fun way to spend the off season isn't it?

He must have learned that approach from his predecessor Steve Spurrier's stint in the NFL. That's why he went with Danny Wuerrfel the wiffle ball thrower.

No he said he wasn't comfortable with it, but he understood he would have to do it. Whoever it was on Twitter said we missed out on our top targets and then Dilla confirmed that we had 6 priority free agents this year and went 0 for 6. We wanted them, Urban just made the mistake of thinking that his aura and Godkingness would charm everyone into playing for him on less than market contracts.

Yeah, I'm sure that's exactly what it was.

Vita Vea, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Wirfs, Antoine Winfield, Devin White, Lavonte David, Murphy-Buntling.

You can talk about the guys they signed all you want but Brown, Fournette, aren’t starting because of guys they drafted and other guys like Gronk came AFTER Brady signed because Brady felt like this was a championship team. But don’t just take my word for it
