Draft grades

I hope to come back to this over the season and see how right these "Draft guru" guys are.

Just don’t call yourself victorious after week 1 like a lot of people did with their “Jags will win 8-9 games” and “Minshew is the answer” and “CJ Henderson was the right pick!”

If it means the Jaguars have a winning season, I would be more than willing to take whatever ribbing I get on the boards for being wrong.  Even more so if it advanced to winning the Super Bowl.

I would gladly take my share of told ya so's.  I would double up on a helping of crow.

The problem is, far more often than not, the Jaguars have proven their detractors right.

What a tease that first game was.

The problem is, this methodology renders Trevor Lawrence as a complete null factor because he was perceived as the #1 overall pick from the very beginning and the Jaguars took him 1st overall.

Odd that a guy deemed a generational prospect at the most important position in football is a non factor in determining draft performance.

It also assumes the majority of NFL teams value players the same way they do. While the media does a pretty good job in Round 1 of saying who'll go and who won't, beyond that they're a bit more clueless. NFL teams have whole teams of scouts, do interviews, etc... that the media doesn't have. For all we know, Walker Little would've gone at #46 to the Bengals if we didn't take him. Or maybe he'd have lasted until #65. We don't know, and we'll never know.

Someone else made a similar observation and you both are right.

The media presumes their player ratigns are correct.  That presumption may be faulty.
