Man burns down his house after leaving a steak cooking in a TOASTER while he went to the shop to buy chips - then whinges about his insurance payout
  • New Zealand man left a steak cooking in a toaster while he left to buy hot chips
  • Fire caused severe damage to the home with insurer paying $400,000 to rebuild
  • Man has complained this amount isn't enough and asked for a further $200,000
  • Insurer argues he should have insured home for cost to rebuild, not market value

Part of me thinks this was an insurance fraud scheme.

The rest of me really hopes this was attempted insurance fraud, and not actually someone legit trying to cook steak in a toaster.

They don't deserve to ever have access to steak again regardless.

As an avid grilled/smoker, I almost want to take a toaster outside and try this. Not that I expect it to turn out, but more so to see if it turns out or if I get the same results.

I can’t quite tell if serious, yet really intrigued by the possibility.
