End of Year - positivity posts

#1

We sure have a lot to be disappointed about as another year of football is wasted. Development seems stuck in neutral and we aren't seeing the improvements we would all like for the team.

All of that said, there are some positives.

My contribution... the Jaguars are Jacksonville's team and the fans did their part.

The fan base is bruised and battered and their resilience is amazing but after 20 years of being one of the worst performing franchises in sports, the cracks are beginning to show. It's going to get real ugly soon if ownership can't pull it's head out of its [BLEEP].
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

Every positive i can muster is offset by the current staff ruining it, so...

Sorry. I got nothing.

When Urban got hired it was like the Jaguars are handed a winning lotto ticket and immediately invested the winnings in doge coin. It's amazing how this team manages to make any winning hand into a losing one.

Getting 1.01 to draft Lawrence was the winning lotto ticket. Having another first rounder and another second rounder was another winning lotto ticket. Having the most cap space in the league was a third winning lotto ticket.

And then we hired Urban and he forgot to snuff out his victory cigar and it burnt down the house with all 3 lotto tickets still inside.

I'm positive that The Urban Error is the worst 11 months of this franchise's existence.

I'm right there with you.  And to make matters worse, I fully expect it to last at least another year because Khan is incompetent.

Well okay but on the positive...

Khan has kept the team in Jacksonville.

I think, for me, the most positive thing I can take from this year is that I have learned how to mentally tune out the Jaguars.

I agree, the end of the year is indeed a positive.

I consider this time of the season the 'dead zone' for me. I'm not as invested in football if the jags are playing poorly. It just gets repetitive and I would rather be productive, even on a Sunday, but once the playoffs start up that's when I get excited again!

The team is reportedly going to go up tempo so Bevel will be able to communicate with Trevor at the LOS and can wear down defensive linemen like Peyton Manning used to do to us back in the day.
Respect the game.  Play with a sense of urgency.

1.)  Take care of the ball.  Win the turnover battle.

2.)  It's all about 3rd down.  Win on 3rd down to win the game.

3.) Playmakers make plays.  The only reason that you put your uniform on is to make plays. In order to EARN your paycheck, you must make plays.

We have Trevor.
We will get Etienne back to pair with already beast in JR.
We will draft a stud OL or Edge with our first pick then a top wideout.
Free agency flush with cap space.
Young defense showing modest signs of life.
Joe Cullen.
“Next Year” - our favorite phrase.
Ok that’s all I got.

The guy has a lisfranc injury, if he was ever going to live up to his draft status he probably won't, now. Etienne was a low value selection where he was taken, but he still could have been a productive player (though not likely in the way Urban was hoping) but now I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't even play out his while rookie contract here.

While I'd never assume he'll be 100%, Etienne is indeed young enough to have a very good chance at recovering well enough to be near his prior dynamic level of play.

There is a chance he will be less than what he was, but that's not etched in stone for a man as young and resilient as he.

We have to wait and see.
Of course - I didn't like the pick and I don't trust these clowns to use ETN/JR25 effectively, but I'm not gonna write him off yet.

They already go 3 and Out in 26 seconds, why would we want it to be faster?
