That was a pretty fun/interesting read. We all hear the stories from our parents/grandparents or elders in general about prices in the past. Me personally, I can tell my grandkids about gas being .99/gal and the .59 cheeseburgers at McD’s. I seem to recall my dad saying he could get a whole meal at McD’s for .25 or something like that.

What’s funny is your kids or grandkids or mine will be saying “ I remember when gas was only 3.00 a gallon and you can get a value meal for 8 dollars.

I remember when gas hit $1.00/gallon at the Racetrack on Cassat Ave. and I-10. You'd have thought the world was ending. I'd love to fill my tank for $23 instead of $70.

When I started driving I was paying .32 a gallon. Everybody went bat [BLEEP] crazy when it hit a dollar.

After we moved into town, I can remember my dad giving me two dollars to get gas and oil for the lawn mower. I walked to the gas station and bought a gallon of gas and a quart of oil (in the cardboard can with metal ends) and came back with change.

I’ve said before (somewhere) I wish I could live back in the day with the money we make now. I suppose, I’ll save up some money for when Elon makes a time machine or wormhole. I’d have a peasant hand writing my emails in calligraphy. I’d have the biggest dollar bill in the world and Id eat duck every night. I sure hope duck is good. I don’t think I’ve ever had it.

Conversely, electronics are much cheaper now. I recently saw an old ad for a TRS-80 II computer. It was released in 1979 at a price of $3,450. That’s $13,248 in today's dollars. I also saw an ad for Sharp's EL-8 portable calculator. In 1971 it cost $345. That's $2,374 today. And people complain about spending $1,000 on a smartphone.
